Angry Getting Upset

We ordered our Eagle 314BDS on 2/12. We are still waiting for it. The dealer said it takes 6 weeks for it to come in and that it would be in by mid April. Last week they said it would be there 4/26. Today they said its awaiting transport still on the Jayco lot. Is this type of delay normal? Are other people currently having this problem?

We didn't but that could have been because we picked up from dealership about a mile down the street from factory.

What a bummer. They should have called you sooner! Is this a dealer issue, bad weather, or did the transport people not keep up with demand? So are they giving you a new arrival date? Hope you didn't have to cancel plans for a maiden voyage... hope you get is soon

It took exactly 6 weeks for our order to arrive at the dealership. (2/17/11-3/31/11) This is the delivery estimate the dealer provided when we ordered. However, the dealer was unable to provide any updates during this period.

If/when we purchase another new RV, we'll locate the dealer closest to the factory as they'll either have a good selection or will have ready access to factory inventory. We'll buy from them at almost certainly a lower price and travel to that location to transport the unit home ourselves.

Hindsight is always 20/20.

Best of luck on your purchase.

etep571190,

If you feel that you're getting the runaround from your dealer, it may be time to contact Jacyo directly:

http://www.jayco.com/php/about/contact.us.php

It could be a valid, unexpected delay:
a) delivery drivers who use their own TV (many of whom reportedly sought other work when RV sales took a hit 2-3yrs ago), who may not feel that what Jayco is paying them per mile will cover the recent fuel price increases.
b) weather.
c) production line issues.

But if you are getting jerked around, Jayco will likely want to know since they pride themselves on quality and a small network of dedicated dealers.

Good luck.

It took about 8 weeks for us to get our trailer. It seems that with Christmas, New Years, and really bad weather it took a little longer. It was worth the wait.

The dealer called today and told me its a problem with getting transport from Jayco. The trailer is ready to be shipped but needs someone to haul it. Hopefully it will be soon. We are seasonal campers and the campground opens this weekend. We were under the impression we had plenty of time when we ordered it. The dealer seems honest and I'm confident that once they have the trailer they will make it right. They also have to deliver it to the campground for us. Plus I'm selling our old camper and people can be a pain (no shows, ridiculously low offers, and lots of tire kickers). This all adds up to a somewhat frustrated me. Once the camping starts I'm sure this will all be forgotten.

Wow, with that kinda wait, I hope the "warranty issue gods" are on your side! I hope you get the near perfect tt w/only minor warranty concerns

Ours took 10 weeks exactly from ordering to picking up. We ordered on 09/10/10 and took delivery on 11/19/10. It was a wait for us also. It is an industry wide issue with deliveries. My brother and neice in MN each have a travel trailer on order from a different manufacturer and it has been 10 weeks and they are still waiting for theirs.

We were told 6 weeks also. After 9 weeks we went to our dealer and switched our order to the exact same model, colors, etc. they had sitting right on the lot. I don't know why they would not have just given us that one right away. It was exactly what we ordered. Anyway, we did not have a very good experience with this type of thing either. We are happy now though! our TT only needed minor warranty work done, mostly just the facia on the front slide.

Mine came in right as promised, about 6 weeks. But that was October, toward the end of the camping season. Hope you get it soon and sell your other one.

No way Ernie, you too! I'm pretty sure Mark isn't happy about that! He actually prides himself on getting things done. Sorry to hear.

So what's going on? High gas prices putting the transporters out of business

The transport people have all sorts of problems. Fuel prices, insurance problems, state licensing issues, size of their truck with state regulations. Not enough money per mile and not getting anything for an empty run back to the plant. Lots of them are giving it up.

The dealer charged us $3400 for transport fees. I am not sure what percentage the driver gets.
From the factory to the dealer is about 2200 miles.
