Good Sam Extended Service Plan - Good Idea? Or Not?
I have a brand new Jay Feather 23RLSW, which obviously comes with a 2-year warranty. I also have AAA RV coverage, in addition to insurance on the RV itself. Good Sam is offering me an "Extended Service Plan", for what -at least on the surface - sound like a good price.
Have you any experience with this, good, bad or indifferent? Is this a good deal, or should I run away screaming in horror?

All I know is at this point, even the warranty is meaningless to me. I'm not willing to have my trailer sit at the dealer's lot for weeks or months waiting on a simple warranty fix that I can do for under $500 on my own.
Yeah, it adds up. But I enjoy using the trailer, so there it is.
The new $150 circuit board for the water heater just showed up yesterday. I asked the dealer about it and was told to bring it in, they'd look at it, then order the part (which they don't keep in stock) if it's determined to be the issue... blah, blah, blah. Fixing it myself.
If it was a major issue or something I didn't feel confident to do on my own, I'd take it in and endure the wait, otherwise, I'm a handy guy.
So I won't be paying for any extended service plans.
Just my 2 cents.

Well said "eckdude" better to pay yourself than to other warranty agencies!
Dealers diagnostics probably always come up with bad electronic boards so they can resell the old one. I always test according to the manufacturer of an appliance then I know for sure. All test info is online nowadays. Best to have a surge protector with all the electronics in our units. And whatever power is coming in test it at the source before hooking up.

They always ask me if I want the extended warrantee if I'm buying a new appliance or electronics, ect.
I have always (since I was a kid) told the sales people no I'm not interested, "but sir if it breaks you'll be out all that money"
I answer "if the product breaks and this store or the manufacture doesn't replace or fix it I will never buy anything from your store or this manufacture again".
The sales person always looks at me like I have ten heads, but doesn't try to coheres me into a useless "service plan" or "warrantee" again.
Ps I've never had an issue where I would have used the garbage warrantee they try to sell.

Warranty companies only make money by REFUSING claims.. then you have to appeal it and MAYBE get covered. MY advice take the money you would use to buy the warranty put it in a bank account and use that for any work / parts you need.. bet you will end up ahead. As you can see from my signature I use my trailer A LOT and have not had a warrantable claim since the end of Jayco's 2 year warranty
