Hello and first of all I'm sorry for your trouble.

I had a similar situation and it's really a tough spot. If you can hear the motor running it may be that the gear box on the motor has gone bad. The motor is on the end of the right arm of the awning hooked to the awning tube as you are standing outside facing the RV. If you can turn the tube that the awning is hooked to that is probably what is going on. It should not turn manually. These things are easily damaged so don't pull around on it too much. If you have a few people and the tube will turn freeley you might be able to roll it up as two people are pushing in on the arms and secure the arms with some straps or heavy Velcro strips. I just repaired my awning yesterday and although it wasn't easy it was not too bad but you need a few people and at least one ladder.

Your best bet would be to take advantage of your 1 year free Coachnet insurance that came with your new Jayco or if you have some sort of RV roadside insurance besides that. There may be an local authorized service person that can come to the camp ground to help get the awning in so you can get on the road. Here is a link to Coachnet:https://coach-net.com/jayco/

Good luck and sorry for your troubles.

Sorry for formatting, cut and pasted from maual.

B.

Pull Strap Method
Use this procedure if prior method failed to close
awning.

This procedure requires a 5/32′′ hex key, and
help from at least one other person.
1.

Make sure adjustable knobs are only lightly
tightened on both arm assemblies. See
(FIG.
3)
.
2.
Make sure motor connector from hardware con
-
nector (located in upper part of RH arm assem
-
bly is unplugged. See
(FIG. 7)
.
3.
Insert pull strap (provided) into utility slot of FRTA,
and slide to center (of FRTA). See
(FI8

4.

IMPACT OR PINCH HAZARD.
Hold pull strap firmly before removing screw(s)
at top casting. The fabric roller tube is under
spring tension, which will attempt to close the
awning quickly and unexpectedly. Failure to
obey this warning could result in death or seri
-
ous injury.
While one person grasps pull strap firmly, remove
the (2) screws at top and back of RH top casting.
Save for reinstallation later. See
(FIG. 8)
.
5.

PINCH HAZARD. Keep
CLEAR
of arm assemblies while closing awning. Arm as
-
semblies will [fold / close] against back channel.
Failure to obey this warning could result in death
or serious injury.

Move pull strap diagonally (to left
or right) as awning rolls up. Otherwise, awning
fabric may crease or form a bulge, and could
permanently stretch fabric.
Carefully and slowly allow awning to roll up
(close).
6.

IMPACT OR CRUSH HAZARD.
Reinstall screw(s) at top casting
BEFORE
trans
-
porting RV. Otherwise, awning could extend
quickly and unexpectedly during transit. Failure
to obey this warning could result in death or seri
-
ous injury.
Align holes in RH top casting (where screws
were removed), and reinstall the (2) screws to
secure awning for travel.

Do
NOT
reattach wiring. Awning will require
service by a qualified service technician
.

Please note cautions!!!!!

The awning is under spring tension, if you loosen motor mount it will close quickly and damage things.

PS thanks for asking this as we did not receive an instruction manual with our trailer, only the installation manual. I will now go out and buy an awning strap for emergencies.

Is it a carefree or Domitec awning?

Carefree manuals are easier to find.

Yes I was thinking Carefree but I guess it could be Domitec. No spring in the carefree but gas shocks can cause some safety issues if you are pushing in the arms and loose your balance or let go of them. My wife helped with ours and we got them in.

Jayco stopped doing that in 2017. No 1 year Coach Net, and no 1 year paid subscription to Jayco Owners Club.

Coach Net Membership is listed on the 2018 Brochures

It's not listed in my 2017 brochure. I was surprised when I pickup my new 2017 23RB. The dealer didn't offer the Coach Net, and didn't mention it. I had read in the 2016 brochure which I had at home, that 1 year Coach Net was included along with one year's membership in the Jayco Owners Club.

I re-read the 2017 brochure I got from the dealer, and it does not mention Coach Net.

I wonder if enough people complained, so it's back.

Ah ha, the fine print:

*Roadside Assistance through Coach-Net is available on new Jayco motorhomes only. See your dealership for more information.

That was the brochure I had. Probably not used/continued enough by people with towables.

Too bad, I thought it (Coachnet) was a nice little perk.

I guess the OP got fixed up and on their way ok.
