Im sure the dealership is going to bombard us with stuff we "Must have", does anyone have a list or can point us in the direction of "must haves" so we don't buy unnecessay items

If on board tanks you will need a sewer hose and a fresh water hose and recommend a water pressure regulator. Spare fuses of all sizes used in camper.

Water Filter, Surge Protector 30amp. Rubber gloves are a must for sewer clean out.

We are having the WDH and Brake controller installed this week.

Does the camper not come with a sewer hose? What are the floor mats for? What sort of tools should I include in the kit

Thank you all so far for your help!

Many dealers do include a basic "starter kit' with the purchase of a new RV. It will likely include a cheap sewer hose, fresh water hose, toilet treatment and a few other goodies.

If the dealer does not give you a sewer starter kit a inexpensive one,buy one at Walmart..

Take what you need to cook and sleep, sheet and pillow. Enjoy the rig and make a list. You will start a list of things needed and things essential.

Don't buy a bunch till you camp, look around at what other campers use. Thats part of the enjoyment.

Help my checkbook!

Most of them give you a cheap sewer hose and a white 25' water hose. If not they are easy to find.

The Mat they refer to is a outdoor rug to keep dirt out and a place to sit on a lawn chair so you don't feel like you are camping. LOL

Most anything you buy initially will likely be replaced by something that does the same thing better.

Also, you will need outdoor lights, great big chairs to fight with, loudspeakers for outside, a 50' TV, a new bathroom fan that will pull your wig off and blow it out the vent....ahhh, just kidding!

The first night I went "camping" I parked in a nice big WalMart at the west end of Saskatoon. Pretty much anything I found I needed, I could just saunter in and buy it, including a nice cup of Tim Horton's coffee in the morning!

You will have fun stocking your trailer. Of course, my wife had different ideas about what should go where, and I teased the poor girl. We had fun.

Enjoy your trailer!

Edit: Comb this site for lots of good ideas. And some good fun!

If it were me, I would go light the first trip and bring the essentials. As you walk around that first evening and see what other people have, you can start making a list and buying other crap that suits your needs.

For NEEDS, you gotta have the following;
leveling blocks (pieces of wood or the plastic lego style blocks)
wheel chock so your camper doesn't roll away
house to connect to water. You want an RV specific hose, chlorine free. Dealer or Walmart has them for cheap. Usually included in starter kit
sewer hose to drain your tanks. Dealer or Walmart has them. Usually get a cheap one in starter kit.
don't forget pillows and sheets for your bed.
unless you plan to eat out, bring supplies to cook and eat with.
soap/shampoo/dish detergent for cleaning.
outdoor chairs for sitting around the fire pit.
broom to sweep out the dirt/sand

Those are the essentials for a first trip, in my opinion. You will either camp with friends or see your neighbor campers and see what they bring with them and make a decision about what you want yourself. If you buy without knowing how you will use it, you will either buy too cheap and replace, or buy something you don't really need and it will waste money space and weight.

Eventually you may want a patio mat, especially if you camp at dirt sites or sandy sites. It really reduces the amount of dirt and sand you track in. Of course if you plan to camp at RV resorts all the time, you don't need to worry about that.

Both our starter kits included the cheap slinky. It has a connector only on the TT end, the "ground" end was just the cut end of the hose. The idea being you shove the bare end into the CG sewer pipe. At least one CG we've stayed at stated that kind of connection was prohibited. I used it the first night and got its replacement
The Wally Mart overnight is a good suggestion as the big ones will have the basics.
My last starter kit also included a roll of TP, black tank chems, fresh water hose (25') and a pressure regulator (and a nice bucket). Probably some more things I don't remember.
I had accumulated quite a bit of "stuff" prepping for the first pick-up and trip home (Orlando to Houston) but we did make a stop the second day at the I-10 Camping World where I accumulated even more "stuff".

Get some wheel chocks (blocks of wood for chocks and leveling will work or Harbor Freight has some cheap rubber ones that seem fine), pack a basic tool kit (w/ flashlight) and take a 4-way lug wrench.
We're now on our second TT (5th) and I'm still picking up the odd thing here and there to add to my "stuff" collection.

Make sure your dealer includes a battery and a FULL LP tank.
When picking up our first TT I had the dealer install and adjust the WDH, I had to tweak it after a couple of trips.

I agree, go with the minimums and decide what you want. as others have stated most things will get replaced by better versions or not used. Every camper has different needs. If I was going to make a list, I'd say

Absolute must haves (things I never take out of trailer):
-Wheel chocks
-Leveling blocks
-Sewer hose and gloves
-Fresh water hose ~ IF you are going somewhere with a full hook up, and a pressure regulator to go with it.
-Emergency equipment (FA kit, tire changing tools/jack, etc)
-Lawn chairs
-Extension cord
-30A to standard plug converter
-RV toilet paper and chemical if you plan to use toilet to its full capacity

Not necessary but good to have:
-Awning mat
-Broom
-Outdoor tablecloth
-Campfire supplies
-Rug inside trailer for shoes
-Propane gauge
-Tarp for firewood or bikes or something

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, I'll add more if anything comes up.
