I have used them in the real world of camping (other than my driveway) and I have found some issues but they work great once set up. I just came back from site that was severely sloped and the back end was up in the air and the front end real close to the ground. Even tho the front ones were slanted because the drawback is there not adjustable but it still worked. The back ones I had to use a block of wood to raise the ground so they were at an angle to draw them together. Other than that it was awesome to use the trailer with no rocking 🤘🏼

We found that we only needed them in the front when combined with the the OEM stabilizers in the back work of our 195RB. I can see that if we have a site that is much higher in the front there may be an issue fitting the wood stabilizers in place. Went to Acadia a couple of weeks ago and the site was off a little side to side, but I was able to place extra blocking on the low side.

I can't wait to build these and try them out. I'm sure with 5 kids 1-9 years old they will make a huge difference.

Newbie question: Why don't the 4 scissor jacks keep the trailer stable, I thought that was what they were for? Your solution is genius, now all I need to do is to look under the trailer to see where I should place them. Thanks for the contribution!

Our trailer only has two OEM stabilizers and they are in the rear, so we added these in the front ad they have worked well.

Those scissor jacks work ok for the up and down stability, but there's so much side to side bouncing that these extra stabilizers completely squash that extra side to side movement.

Our camper has the 4 standard jacks. On our 29SQB that was too much movement with a 3 and 5 year old. Bought jacks to put under the middle of the trailer. Helped some, but not enough. Bought the extended x-chocks, that made a considerable diff, but still not enough. Added those 2x4 stabilizers, and now even with 6-8 kids under the age of 8 running and jumping in our camper, there's no bounce or any movement.

Highly recommend trying these before spending any money on any other extra stabilizers.

If you decide and it doesn't fix the issue these did for ours, JT STRONG ARM bars took about 2 hours to install after figuring out the bad instructions

We did the same thing. We have the 4 stabilizers, added 2 more just forward of the tires, and use x-chocks on both sides. It is still not stable enough for our 29L (33 ft bumper to hitch). We have an enclosed underbody, which is giving me pause with this mod. It is under a cover right now, but from what I can remember our I-beams are not accessible because they are covered up. Do you think this will work by using a 2"x6" to run along the frame and attach the 2"x4" via either a notch or hinge?

We have an enclosed underbelly as well and I think you'll find that only the inside of the I-beam is inaccessible so the mod should work. I'm going to try this also because I did the same as you in adding 2 extra stabilizers amidship. More stable than before but still have some side to side rocking.

We just tried a set of these and were very impressed by them! Made up another two sets for our next trip out and should have a very stable trailer now.

Thanks for the great idea!

I built 2 test sets of these to try out on our last trip. Loved them. I had bought x-chocks to see if that would help, but barely even noticed they were there. My wife and 4 kids just clomp around the camper and really move it around. These braces/stabilizers really help make the trailer rock solid. I can definitely tell when they are not installed on quick overnights. Now I need to make them out of pressure treated instead of scrap wood.

We ended up using 3 sets of these. One set at each end to restrict side to side movement and one set oriented parallel to the wheels to restrict fore and aft movement.

They work great!

Hey I remember when this thread first started! It's been in the back of my mind all these years. Might just have to give it a whirl!

So I made the front and rear set of stabilizers and used them for the first time this weekend. Wow, what a difference. My wife was amazed and so was I. They really work great. Thanks again for the great idea.

Been using 2 sets of these for 3 years. Definately takes 99+% of the wiggle out. Got the idea off of Pinterest.

Happy RVing,
Jeff

Late to the game and very late to this thread. We bought a new TT back in November and have had it out twice. This rocking and swaying is too much. I've been looking at the much more expensive "store bought" options and luckily, I stumbled across this thread! Just wished I'd have seen it a few years ago and I could have done this for our previous Jaycos!

I'll definitely be using this mod!

Glad to see folks are still getting some use out this thread nearly 3 years after first posting.

FWIW. I’m still using the original set I made 3 years ago. Still won’t camp without em.

My Jayco was bouncing all night like a diving board, I bought a set of JT STRONG ARM's from eBay and no more bouncing at all.

They sell a set for travel trailers and a set for fifth wheels.

I'm tired of building stuff.
