How do I clean wheel center caps?

I have a 2010 Jayco Jay Feather, and I have aluminum wheels. The center caps are removable for greasing, which by the way, I can't seem to remove, I put a screw driver in, but they seem like they want to crack instead of pop off.

Anyways, they are plastic, painted chrome, and they are speckled with green corrosion. What can I use to clean off the corrosion?

About twice a season I take some Chrome Cleaner/Polish to my "cheap plastic chrome hubs" and seems to clean them up fairly well.

The caps we have are also chrome plastic pieces, but we do not have the problem you have. I think Bob has the answer!!

What is the best way to remove these hints without breaking them? Also, is there a particular laser pointed heat sensor that anyone would recommend?
Thanks
