All of us stuffed into our truck! We only stopped for fuel and ate take out. The longest we ever did was 1200 miles in a single day! This was on mountain back roads and passes. I was exhausted by the time we got done.
The mistake I made with the 1200 mile "day trip" was that we left our TT at a campsite not realizing how far away it was.

4-5 hundred miles is enough for me. There's an awful lot to see, I'd hate too miss it.

We limit are travel time to 500 miles a day or 10 hrs and that is the maximum. We feel more energized when we arrive at our destination if we take our time getting there.

All depends on the motivation. Personally have found that in retirement we don't push. Plan out our trip at home and generally do max of 400 miles in a push and usually around 350 max. Traveling with dogs and wife so stops are necessary. Now tend to eat in rather than grabbing a bag of burgers. The extra 30 minutes gives the brain and eyes a rest and we can walk the dogs and loosen up a bit before getting back on the road. Tend to stop around sundown and since we do Wally W parking lots for overnites there is no set up. Lots are lighted if we run a little longer and arrive after dark. IMHO 1400 is over the top for a 2 day drive. Have done if when younger, but found that sleep [and family arguments] usually consumed day 3 and sometimes day 4. If vacation time is limited, then I would stay closer to home. 3 days out and 3 days home only allows 8 days on site with a 2 week vacation. Not my idea of a relaxing vacation.

X2

Especially considering all the unknowns that go along with RV travel (weather, traffic, etc.).

Nope, I wouldn't do it either. Not because I couldn't, but because that is just too much time behind the wheel. I just wouldn't take the risk to myself or my family. In addition, there is no time to stop and see anything along the way. If I had to go that distance in that short of time, I would fly or take the train - no need for the RV. JMHO
