How long after ordering...

So looking to enjoy Spring/Summer 2016. How long after ordering from a dealer will it take to make/ship/take off lot. I want to make sure we don't wait too long. Thanks

The dealer should tell you once the order is placed.

Then add a month or 2 for the usual foul-ups, bleeps and blunders.

Several folks can chime in about delivery delays because of the 2014-15 severe winter.

Take anything the dealer tells you and increase it by 50%.

This rant brought to you by somebody that only buys in-stock merchandise.

The dealer quoted me 6/8 weeks when I ordered my 38FDDS last week. If everything goes as scheduled, I'm looking at a late december early january arrival. The later the better as far as I'm concerned. Mine will stay with the dealer until early spring delivery to my seasonal spot.
I'm told the wait depends on build runs as well. They schedule build runs for each model, so build time would depend on the next build of that particular model.

IOP -- if history is an indicator of the future, Jayco will start converting from MY 2016 to MY 2017 in Feb/March. If you would be disappointed to buy a 2016 and then see 2017s showing up just a couple months later I would wait till Feb/March to order and expect delivery in April/May.

Be warned though, often colors and options change from year to year. So if your heart is set on something real specific get it now. Dealers often don't know all the changes from year to year right away. There are many posts here of people ordering one year then getting the next because the line changed and the dealer wasn't aware. Typically they are happy, but occasionally the factory substitutes something.

Is it really Feb/Mar when they change the MY or rather May/Jun? I am waiting for WhiteHawk MY17. I am not in rush to get the trailer, but just thought it is a bit later for the MY change...

It's not consistent, and it's not published to give dealers an opportunity to clear the lots. It's line specific, one model family might convert weeks before another. Also there might be a small period where features of both are being mixed.

My personal experience is --- 2012 26BH was manufactured in March 2011 and delivered to dealer in early April 2011

My current '12 29QBH, bought used, but original owner ordered it Jan 2012 and it was delivered March 2012. The unit includes some items that were "not" available in 2012 documents but we're in 2013. For instance we got a pocket door instead of curtains.

I wish dealers and Jayco would be forthcoming but they just aren't. Jayco typically doesn't even update the website till Aug, which is several months after the new year has been shipping.

The OP mentioned they were new to this, so just wanted them to be aware that the model year changes much sooner in RVs than it does in cars.

From order to pickup, took me 9 weeks to get mine.

And I'm glad I bought in the fall, gives me lots of time before spring to get any work done on it. Already have a couple of things, but dragging my feet taking it back to the dealer...

It feels like forrrreeevveeer, but in reality figure 2 months on avg then figure in your location as well. Sometimes it's a matter of awaiting transportation to your location.

I would not run it too tight though so if there are issues at the PDI it has the potential to cancel a trip with fixes. That's not the norm, but better to be done and satisfied.

Also my dealer took my order in the fall and offered me a delayed delivery in the spring (March) as an option.
