How long does everyone keep their campers before selling or trading in for new?

How long does everyone keep or plan to keep their campers before getting new one?

If there is another thread with this subject, I apologize.

Thanks,

Kim

I had my 23b for six years...never had a problem. I hope to keep this one a lot longer.

We had our 23B for 3 years - outgrew it. Had our Sierra 315BHT for 6 years - starting to have quality issues. Hope to keep the next one longer!

I've had my current camper for 9 1/2 years. I have a new 5th wheel on order.

We've had our 32 bhds for less than year and love it, but wondering how long our teenage boys (16 & 14) will want to camp with us. I guess they really have no choice since we can't leave them at home by themselves! We also have a 6 year old daughter who loves camping & will no doubt have friends come along at some point. If we were to decide to downsize today, then my first choice would by Jayco's 26RKS with bunks. That is an awesome layout, but missing the outdoor kitchen that we love.

Don't know if this is "Jayco specific" or not, but we have a Coleman pop-up we bought brand new in '82! We still have it and it still looks good and most of the stuff (A/C) still works. But Father Time caught up with me and my wife and I bought a X23B.

I plan on "passing" the Coleman to my son who has a new baby. A lot of memeories was made with the ol pop-up!

We don't get rid of things quickly, we also traded in my wife's 2001 Chrysler 300m, that we also bought new back then as well.

Had my first for 8 years. It was 2 years old when I bought it. Got tired of arriving at the cground where it was stored only to find this or that broken or not working. Every vacation started poorly, waiting for a repair man, or trips to Lowes. Had it this past July, went across the street from the campground and bought a Jayco 32TSBH. We only have one child still at home, but the older ones often like to come and bring the grand kids. Got room for everyone now.

Our first was a Jayco 232 (hybrid with 3 bunks) that I loved. We had it for about 2.5 years. Ended up trading it in when we found out my wife was carrying twins - children 5&6 for us, so it was time for a bunk house and something a little bigger.

Then we got a 32BHDS that we loved and would have held on to for a long, long time. Unfortunately, it was stolen from a storage lot. I won't go into the details, but there is a long thread here about it off anyone is interested. All I will say is GAP insurance makes sense, if you finance a RV.

We were going to replace it with another 32 BHDS, but then saw the 32TSBH, which is perfect for us as the bigger bunkhouse sleeps all 6 kids easily. You loose the outdoor kitchen / rear storage, but the BH is absolutely huge. Will hopefully have this TT until enough kids grow up and move out to allow me to get an F350 TV and a 5'er like the new Seismic. Right now we need a TV that can carry all 8 of us.

My first camping experience was the converted back seat/trunk of my parents' 1951 Olds 88, and several vacation trailers later, but my wife and I bought our first - a 13 footer Scotty (think that was the name) with a portable chemical toilet sitting on the floor, and two bunk beds. It lasted around 4 or 5 years, and then we upgraded to a used 29 foot TT (forget the name). After another 5 or 6 years, we again upgraded to a new 27 foot Prowler with a lot more goodies. Sold that one after another 4 years, and went camperless a few years until we found our current 33 foot Designer 5er late last summer (2011). Hope that this one will last until we are too old to travel much anymore.

Our first trailer we kept for 6 years. Our second, a Prowler we really liked and kept it for 13 years. Our Montana 5er ( which was problamatic,) we kept for 4 years. Our current trailer the Jayco 330RLTS is still up in the air. If the next few years are like the last year and a half we own't be keeping it long. One problem after another.

My husband and I grew up with campers in the family. I camped in tents and 2 different Starcraft pop-ups as a kid while he camped in a truck camper and then a travel trailer. After we married, we tent camped for 16 years. Last summer we bought our first camper, the 17Z. After 1 year of camping and getting tired of packing and repacking the entire trip because there wasn't enough storage, one year to the day, we traded for the 26RKS with the bunk option. We have 1 full week in the trailer under our belts and could not be happier. This layout is terrific for our family. While we loved our hybrid, that line simply does not allow for enough cargo. 500 pounds adds up fast. Great if you take short trips but not when you take long journeys as we tend to do. While 1 year ago we never dreamed we would trade this fast, I can safely say, our newest vacation home is here for the long haul! :-)

We had our 05 Jayco Eagle 5th Wheel for 6 problem free years, prior to that we had a 96 Sunnybrook TT for 9 problem free years.

I sure hope the problem free trend continues with our current Jayco Pinnacle.
We are coming up on one year of Fulltiming in our Pinnacle in October, so far so good, only a few minor problems.

Not me specifically but my grandparents purchased new a 20'-ish Terry camper back in 74' and was used/stored every summer here at Lakewood in Myrtle Beach up until '94 when we moved here. got tired of paying storage fees since we lived here now and hasent been used since. we pulled it out and stored it in my parents back yard but slowly rotted out the roof/celing over the years. sold it for $500 in 2003.

This is the 13th camping season with the 2000 Jayco Eagle 266 FBS. Our previous RV was a 1986 Coleman Laramie that we camped in for 14 years. My youngest son has it now. I have no plans to replace the Jayco anytime soon.

Bought our first and only RV in 2008. It has 4 bunks for the grandkids and at times they have occupied all 4 of them. As they grow older, seems like either the boys or the girls have time to go camping with us, not all at once. For that reason, we are in the market for another RV, hopefully a 313 where we old folks have more room (two recliners) yet still have a good fold out for a couple kids when they go with us.
