How many campers have you owned?

Just thinking back to my younger years. I have owned several campers since I have been old enough to go out on my own. Here's the list of the campers I can remember (not sure they are in order):

1. An old "High Low" Camper. It was given to me by my aunt and uncle.

2. Had a "small truck" pick up camper. I think it was a palomino. It had canvis sides that cranked up. Hauled it around on a 87' Nissan pick up. It got a bit scary going over 55mph

3. full size pick up camper (I dont remember the brand) but it was a late 70's model

4. Bought a 35' Mallard (early 90's model) Kept it on a seasonal lot for a few years. Towed it just a few times. NO SWAY control or tosion bars for it. Towed straight as an arrow

5. Our first Jayco. It was a 99' 242FK. Liked it, lived in it for 4 months while in between homes

6. Found our we were pregnet last spring which was just an excuse for me to use to convince my wife to let me buy a camper with a slide out and bunks. Bought our 97' 314BH and plan on keeping it for awhile.

I feel like I may be missing some, but if you care to take a trip down memory lane, feel free to share what you've had in the past

We've had 4 since 1991.

1) '72 Jayco 12ft pop-up. Bought used in Oct of 1991. We had this for one full season. I essentially rebuilt it, and I knew nothing about camping trailers at the time.

2) '93 Jayco 1208 pop-up. Bought new in Feb 1993, kept it for 10 years.

3) '03 Jayco Kiwi 17a hybrid trailer. Bought new in Feb 2003, kept it for 10 years.

4) '13 Jayco Jay Feather X20E hybrid. Current trailer, bought new in May 2013. Hope to keep this one 10+ years also.

Well my list is a little shorter...

1. Bought our first camper 11 months ago. A 2014 264BHS. We made 6 camping excursions last season and one already in 2015.

I have a feeling our list will grow. We are looking and may get a different camper in 2016. We love our current camper but would like a slide (which I originally didn't want).

Interesting post. Here goes.
1. 1994 StarCraft pop-up which we sold to purchase
2. 1998 Coleman Bayside popup which we traded for
3. 1998 Jayco 263 5th wheel which we sold and ordered a
4. 2011 Jayco 365 BHS which was destroyed in a tornado so we took the insurance check and ordered another
5. 2012 Jayco 365 BHS which we loved until we saw and traded for our current
6. 2014 Jayco 375 BHFS.

What's next is anyone's guess, but for the forseeable future, we love everything about our 375.

One of my sons owns the Coleman pop-up so it's still in the family and in service.

First camper was a backpack. 40 years ago we would go up into the mountains and backpack into some place and come out when we ran out of supplies. When I met my wife I told her I loved camping and soon after we were married I discovered that she didn't know what I meant when I said I loved camping. Next came an actual tent with a floor, what an upgrade. First camper with wheels was a 19 footer with air conditioning........that's when everything changed. That was about 30 years ago. Next camper was a 30 foot Prowler which we used for a number of years. Next was a Rockwood V front kitchen, very nice camper. And then the one we own today.

5. Jayco 221 Jay Feather. Used one summer.
6. Traded2010 221 in for2011 242. Need somewhere besides dinette to sit. Many trips to beach and two trips out West.

Title should be "How many campers have you had?" Not how many have campers have you had Man I'm tired... The snow can stop any time so I don't have to go out plowing at 3:30 in the morning Ready for spring...

Just the two I list in my Signature. All Coleman Tents before that and a really old Canvass Pup Tent the Wife and I huddled in during a Hurricane warning in PEI while camping in Cavendish Beach back in late 80's or early 90s.

Aside from tent camping, we've only had 2.
1. '96 Palamino pop-up: the sad part was that I towed this thing with my '92 Camaro (5-speed), oh well...live and learn!
2. '14 Jayco, 287BHBE

Started with a 1994 Jayco Eagle 22BH. Sold that and bought a
2001 Layton 39' Front bunk house. Sold that in 2004 and took a few years off.
Fast forward to getting married.
Bought a 2012 Sportsmen KZ 35FBH (POS) traded at a HUGE loss to buy my current
2012 Jayco 351 RLTS 5er. (Which is for sale) so I can upgrade to the 38FLSA.

My list includes the campers I had with my parents when I was a kid. I always looked at them as my trailers even if they did belong to my parents.

1st - 1970 something 19' bumper pull. I slept on the fold down table while mom and dad had the luxury of a sleeper sofa. We sold that and bought a

2nd 1970's class C motorhome with an 8 track tape player. We had one tape, Johnny Hortons Greatest Hits. Oh, and the radio didn't work so I heard a LOT of Johnny Horton. I got the overcab bed while mom and dad got the fold out couch, which the quick release was broken on and almost sliced the fingers off of the man who sold it to us. We tripped it with a screwdriver and warned the new owners about when we sold it and inherited my grandparents

3rd 1980's Hitchhiker 5er. Living the life of luxury in this one as grandma had never taken any of the plastic off the cushions or the carpet so it was practically brand new.

Then my dad passed, I was a teenager and camping stopped until

4th 2010 Coachman Clipper 106 ST PopUp All grown up, married and with 1 DD the wife and I decided it was time to move up off the ground and into a trailer. This one was a great little PUP except it didn't have a toilet, so we replaced the dining table with a port a potty! Ultimately after DD 2 was born I couldn't stand emptying that port a potty one more time and we sold the pup and bough

5th (Current Rig) 2015 Jayco 264BHW - DW, DD 1 and DD 2 absolutely love it and I don't have to mess with a port a potty anymore

Since 1981, I've owned six:

1. 1969 Coleman Pop Up - purchased it used for $425 in May 1981. My first tow vehicle was a 1967 Ford Fairlane Station Wagon.

2. 1984 Rockwood Pop Up - traded in the '69 Coleman for a brand new Rockwood Pop Up in August 1984. I got $400 on the trade after almost 4 seasons.

3. 1997 Coleman Pop Up - my father in-law stopped camping at 75 years of age. He gave us his pop-up in September 2005. Sold the Rockwood pop up after 21 years of use.

4. 2007 Jayflight 20BH - after my father in-law gave us his pop up he passed away. My wife couldn't sleep in her father's camper, so we sold it and purchased our first travel trailer.

5. 2009 Jayco Eagle 256RKS - met a guy who had 3 kids in college and needed cash, so he was selling everything to raise cash. Offered him half for what he paid for this 2 year old trailer. Cash was king and the guy sold in a flash. Now I owned 2 TTs. I eventually sold the Jayflight.

6. 2015 Jayco Eagle 284BHBE - on Labor Day Weekend 2014, we went to a RV dealer "just to look" at the Labor Day sales. Well we left with a brand new TT.

1. 2007 Jayco 17 Export sold to Sister-in-Law

2. 2013 Jayco 197 Sold on Craigslist for asking price

3. 2015 Jayco 24FBS Elite This one will be around for awhile

We learned one thing during ownership of the first two, make sure you get what you want the first time!! Third time is the charm.
