Husky Center Line Towing System
I'm currently shopping for a towing system for my new 23K. I just also note that I'm a first time tower and TT owner.
My dealer is suggesting the Husky Center Line Towing System. Here are the specs: http://www.huskytow.com/FTP/PDF/P010...CenterLine.pdf
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this towing system?
The dealer says that it should cost just shy of CA$900 for the sytem and about CA$100 to install.
Any thoughts or other suggestions would be great!

That`s the first one of these I`ve seen. They look like a good integrated WD and sway control system on the PDF. A bit pricey though compared to the Dual cam and Equal-I-zer systems.

Well, prices in Canada are higher for most things.
Last week, I was quoted a price for the Equal-i-zer system at $853 Cdn.

Is that because of the exchange rate or are things just more expensive in general? I`ve never been there but would love to go someday, when its warm of course!

Well, the exchange rate recently has been pretty close to par.
Mostly, the price difference is because of fees to bring items into here from the USA. We say we have Free Trade, but shipping companies charge a Brokerage Fee to clear items through customs, which in this case might be about $75 or so I would guess. Some products are also charged a duty by the border customs agents as a percentage of the item price. There is a thick book which defines which product get duty charged and what percentage. Many products are zero duty, but a fair number still have duty fees.

I think you could save several hundred dollars by driving South and picking up a hitch system.

NO Crabman... we have to pay for our FREE HEALTH CARE somehow.. so taxes are higher so that makes everything else higher... Higher Income tax.. National sales tax... higher fuel taxes...

Getting back to nathanchev's question;
Husky's web site says they use a compression cylinder to dampen sway. A little different method than the Equal-i-zer or Reese Dual Cam, but general approach seems to be similar in that the sway control is built into the hitch. I don't have any road experience with either of these, but maybe someone out there does.
What say anyone?

I see. Well maybe that`s a steal of a price on that hitch then if health care is included. I am self employed and pay dearly for health insurance every month. And it goes up 10 to 20% every year. An unsustainable and untenable rate of increase.

Crabman; don't let the talk of taxes scare you away from Canada. If you're up to the drive, I'm sure you would enjoy the Prince Edward Island, and Cape Breton Island areas. They are know as Canada's summer playground. We've been there and highly recommend them.

If I ever get the time to come, the taxes will not stop me. My grandparents used to vacation in Canada when I was just a kid, grandpa was an avid fisherman, was at Lake Calaboogie (?), not sure of the spelling. By the time I was old enough to go they were too old and stopped going! So everybody including my older brother got a chance to go but me!  Maybe someday. -Lee

If you like rugged coastlines, then Cape Breton Island would be the place. If your tastes are more refined, then Prince Edward Island is the place. If you like small inland lakes, then Ontario just north of Toronto. Calabogi lake is just a bit west of Ottawa, also an area of nice small inland lakes.
