Jack and tire iron?
Does Jayco include a jack and tire iron with the trailer? We can't seem to find it?..

not provided with our tt, there was an earlier thread about which kind of jacks everyone is carrying. i carry a star wrench tire iron in my tv, found one at wally for 12 dollars that is made of steel and 2 sides fold up so it fits nicely in the tv. happy camping!

Mine came with a tire iron. I have used the leveling jacks to change the wheels.

I asked our Dealer about that when we picked up our new TT. He said that trailers don't normally come with a jack or tire iron. He mentioned a star tire iron and a bottle jack should work fine.

Didn't get either with our unit- But we have been RVing for more than 60 years and have acquired the necessary tools as I'm sure y'all have done- In our case, we carry an 8 ton hydraulic jack and an 18 volt impact wrench which has many other uses-JMHO- DD

No wrench or jack came with our 5er. I use the jack from our pickup and a star wrench.

Bottle jacks work very well, but an improvement on the star wrenches would be a 24 inch long breaker bar and socket, and possibly needing a 3 inch extension on the socket to clear the wheel if it is dished. I find that you can get a lot more leverage on the breaker bar than the star wrench.

X2 - I use my torque wrench with extension... that way I can torque it to the correct amount at the same time.

Is the extension part of the torque wrench? If not, your lugs are not torqued to the proper spec.

I carry a four way and a wodden ramp that i made from scrap 2x6 . If front tire is blown position ramp behind rear tire and back trailer up ramp. If rear tire blown position ramp in front and pull up on it. Works really great no lying on the ground or wet pavement. Cause we all know tires never go bad in the driveway when its 72 cool degrees outside.

Same here.....Last year while in Mexico, I had to break it out, which wasn't my exact favorite place to change the tire on TT......:hihi:

I carry a 6 ton floor jack with removable two piece handle and a breaker bar with socket and extension. I also have a torque wrench to get them all back to 140 ft lbs when putting it back on.
I don't like having to crawl under the rig to jack it, thus the floor jack.

Ok, I have a 1/2" Craftsman 150 ft lb torque wrench that I've had for years. I use a 4" extension to secure the socket to the ratchet. My understanding is that this does not change the torque. Enlighten me.

Dmax,
I have to vote with Quahog on this. As long as the socket end of the wrench is supported the extension won't change the indicated torque.
I carry a bottle jack and 4-way plus the torque wrench. I also have the "lego" blocks for leveling which I will use if (when) I need to change a tire since rolling one tire on a short stack will easily lift the other tire (tandem axle). I keep arguing with myself about leaving the bottle jack behind and saving the weight but for now it stays.

Oops, when I read extension I was thinking 'breaker bar' style extension which would extend the length of the torque wrench.
I also use an extension with my torque wrench as it has no effect on the proper operation of the wrench.
