Jayco 23B Fresh Water Supply/Tank

Hi Everyone -

First time submitting a question to the forum. We just recently purchased a Jayco 23B back in June.

Our most recent trip did not provide a fresh water hook up so we had to fill our tank at the fill station. Once filled, I was expecting it to last a good part of our week's vacation. Unfortunately, it lasted less than 3 days. Water usage was kept to a minimum (wash dishes, brush teeth, flush toilet, no showers, etc.).

Does anyone have any experience using the freshwater tank on a 23B? I don't know the exact size of the tank (I believe somewhere between 25 to 30 Gals) but felt that I had a full tank before pulling away from the fill station since water was discharging through what I believe to be an overflow tube along the bottom of the trailler.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

You didnt say how many of you there are. Our last trailer had 36 gal tank and we carried an additional 21 gal with just my wife and I for 3 nights. It got us through the dishes, toilets and each taking a daily 'navy' shower. Its something we tak for granted on how much we use at home. Keep an eye on your fresh water monitor panel next time you dry camp.

Physically look at your fresh water tank and see if it's full next time.
I have to fill mine with the valve 1/2 shut on the fill hose or it backs up and lugs out.

How many are using the HTT? The fresh water tank is full if the overflow line is pouring out from under the HTT. Make sure the tank drain is closed too; I have forgotten to close it once or twice, but have always noticed it before leaving the filling station. Just a note, the air vent in the gravity fill port is not connected to any thing and is plugged on the inside.

We have been out with two adults and two kids for 5 days on a single tank. No showers and being reasonably careful with water consumption. We also use the CG bathroom during the day and no showers in the HTT. I carry a 5 gallon jug to refill as needed; I connect a water bandit to the end potable tank, then a small hose filler onto that. This combo makes it easy to refill the tank as needed.

What probably uses more water than you think is doing dishes, and washing hands.

We also have a 30 gallon water tank and it only last two days. Started out first with a 3 water jugs(7 gallons each) and a large bong style funnel. Those jugs were just to heavy so they now stay back in truck and I purchased a (110vt) transfer pump that stays hooked up to the 25 ft hose left in the bed. We keep an extension cord plugged in with the end hanging near the front of the trailer for easy access. When ever we drive buy the dump station we fill up the tanks so there's always water ready. We wash dishes twice a day and although we don't use our shower my wife does wash her hair in the morning. We use the cg showers.

It is easy to run out if you are not careful. My 23b runs 1/2 gallon to the kitchen sink before it runs hot. Get used to washing your hands in cold water.
