Jayco color issues?

I posted this in another location too, sorry if it's not allowed. I'm new to this forum and wanted to get some responses quick because we are purchasing this week (maybe).

We are considering purchasing a new Jayco. Unfortunately now everything has to be colored including the front cap. Do any of you have problems with it fading or the internal temperature of the unit? I read a couple peoples complaints but surprisingly there wasn't as many as I expected so I don't know if they are isolated incidents or there are just not many colored units on the road.

We have a trailer now and it's colored front cap is oxidized bad and I swore I'd never get another that isn't white. But I love Jaycos and that's all they offer. Also, we camp in Michigan and in the woods the vast majority of the time so I don't think internal temp would be a problem but it does hot here and we are primarily dry campers so A/C is not always available.

Friends of mine has a Eagle with the colored front cap. He doesn't like it. The top of the front is fading really bad and he has waxed it over and over and it still looks nasty. Also he said the inside temps where the front cap is gets really hot. He said next time he is getting a white trailer. Other people that have a colored front cap, not Jayco, are having the same problem, Everybody keeps theirs polished and it still fades.

It is not just the Jayco's that are encountering this front cap HEAT/Oxidation issues. ALL the mfr's with dark fronts are also having the same problem. My 2013 EAGLE 284BHS cap temperature was over 200 degrees in the noon sun, it was oxidizing more and more each month. Jayco agreed to repaint it, and we requested that it be repainted in white. Jayco said ok, but they would not warranty the paint since it was not the same as the original color. No problem, the Jayco dealer service center has a 5 year warranty on the paint job.

If you are going to be using the TT for dry-camping (sunny spots) stay away from ANY dark front caps, no matter who makes it. The heat radiates back into the TT from the front cap. Our bedroom storage compartments are against the front cap and reached temperatures between 140 and 150 degrees. That heat radiated into the TT. Since we had the cap repainted to match the light side color, the max temperature of the outside of the front cap has been around 119 degrees, about 100 degrees less than the dark color, and the interior stays a LOT cooler in the sun while camping.

Good luck in getting a light front cap, as the industry is currently producing all dark fronts. The dealers paint centers really love this, because of all the WARRANTY painting business that they are now getting.

My friend from Texas has a Brown front cap on his 5th wheel and he said its hotter than hell, never again! He's having it painted white as soon as they can get him in. When he traveled with us in Oregon & Washington we had overcast days and he was very comfortable inside but we were on the little to cool side with the all white.
