Jayco Designer Model Come back

Jayco will bring back the designer series F/W this September at Elkhart open House. It might be seen at Hershey prior to Elkhart but I wouldn't count on it. They will have it ready for the dealers first.

I was told this by a Jayco District Towable Rep in June and was just reconfirmed again by Jayco.

Should be welcome for those top end F/W buyers.

Is this to be just above, or below the Pinnacle line? They're getting too many lines that look the same now.

This is above the Pinnacle product. It will compete with DRV etc. All the OEM's are vying for the top end luxury F/W market now. The sales have the highest margin for profit for OEM and Dealer. I think MSRP 45-50% markup.

RV industry is "Speed and Greed"

Also heard it at the Midwest RV show at the RV HALL of FAME 4 weeks ago.

We'll see what they come up with. It'd take a lot more than eye candy and gadgets to prove it luxury to me. Build your own box tube frame (Like a Leland), 3" walls, 4 AC's, etc. Make it a beast, then you might come close to luxury. If it's just another lippert frame with a few more bells and whistles, it's no better than DRV. Even DRV has gone down hill in my opinion, and it wouldn't take much to beat them. But, I realize they have a price point to meet.

Is Leland still in business? Their pin box is now on the DEMCO web site.

I wish. I think Leland got bought by somebody a while back. I miss their frames. Had Leland frames under 2 of our Mobile Scouts. Maybe off topic a little, but to earn the title luxury, I think somebody needs to be along the lines of Continental Coach fifth wheels (Home of Continental Coach by ForksRV). But then again, different price range, and each has his own definition of luxury I guess. Kind of like Tiffin or Entegra vs. Newell or Foretravel. Just no comparing really.

We'll see what Jayco comes up with. Hope it's more than a fancy paint job and a few gadgets.

Here is a discussion about the frames from 2012. Apparently Dexter bought Leland then Lippert acquired Dexter, IIRC.

Don't forget the Entegra came about because of JAYCO acquiring Travel Supreme when they went bankrupt. Travel Supreme also made a "High End" FW so maybe this has been in the works for a while. JAYCO got burnt when they jumped back into the Class "A" market in 2002/03 too fast so maybe they wanted to be sure the Entegra took off first.

I followed Travel Supreme for years until they went bankrupt. Actually almost bought one of their orphan fifth wheels. They were indeed top of the line. I was tickled to see when they were revived by none other than Jayco, and to keep the look and function made it even better. You can look at an Entegra and it still screams Travel Supreme. I hope you're on to something here. Could we see a Travel Supreme look alike fifth wheel?
