kayaks inside swift

Today dw and I purchased two 10 ft kayaks to take with us on our camping trips. Before buying a rack for our tv to haul the kayaks we decided to see if they would fit in the swift 184. Sure enough they are in, solving both the hauling and storage problem. Stacked them on the couch and built a rack out of 1 inch heavy gauge pvc to keep them in place. Made the bottom piece 6ft long, 2 ft wide and have 3 uprights on each side, high enough to keep the kayaks from shifting side to side. Did not glue the uprights so they can be removed easily for loading and storage. We have always been amazed at all the stuff people bring to their campsites. Slowly, we are becoming those people........happy camping!!!

Intresting. Any pics? I havent tried to put mine inside the 165 yet but usually just strap it down upside down on the TV roof rack.

What are you going to do when you use the kayaks and they are muddy, wet and smell bad from swampy areas? Many people haul their bikes inside as well but we don't as my son and I like to hit trails when camping and our bikes can get quite muddy at times.

We only intend to use them in fresh water lakes, suppose we will just wipe them down and call it good. With two dogs constantly camping with us a new smell might be nice......happy camping!!!
