We make a sweep thru the TT prior to starting out and look for things that might slide around. Most counter things just go into the sink. The same for the bath and the shower head sits in the tub. We think it's a pretty convenient system as the things that go counter-top are right at hand and reasonably protected. We also avoid ceramic things since they would break easier than a plastic product (salt, pepper, mixing bowls, plates, coffee mugs and the like).
