I leave mine sitting ON in one of my two trailers however I am at the same location and also inspect the batteries on a scheduled basis. We sort of live in the larger trailer for sleep overs, use of fridge to supplement the house fridge and perhaps watch some TV like NASCAR and FOOTBALL from time to time...

The smaller OFF-ROAD Trailer has the batteries fully charged and then switched completely out of the circuit but remain stored in the battery box on the trailer tongue. I also check these on a scheduled basis and if required will charge them again using the smart mode charging from the on-board converter/charger.

I would say if you are at the same location this would be feasible. If your trailer is not easily accessible then I would pull the batteries.

Having smart mode charging capabilities helps out big time leaving the batteries connected.

I suppose it depends where you live and how cold it gets, but my trailer now stays plugged in 24/7 when at homebase. My original Interstate battery is now over 6 years old and still going.....

My battery over-winters in the house. Charge and check water monthly. Warm, happy and ready to roll each spring for the past four years.

Batteries stay in the TT year round. During the freezing weather, it stays parked, covered and plugged in next to my barn/shop.

If you can keep the TT plugged in all winter you should be fine. You do need to check the water level in each cell from time to time. Add DISTILLED water as needed.

Just posed that question to my dealer yesterday. He recommended that I remove the coach battery and store indoors with a trickle charger (Battery Tender) attached. Though we could leave it plugged in, he recommended removing it due to our harsh Chicago winters.

I always keep our RV on shore power and always leave the batteries in the boxes. Check a couple times the level. Winters are harsh(er) here in Canada

This gets debated a lot in the boat forums, too! Good, fully charged, batteries don't freeze, even in -30 below weather. The possibility of self discharging gets less and less, the colder the climate. Rather than take a chance that a runaway charger will boil the batteries dry (or that I forget to check the water levels), I just take off all negative leads, and let them sit out in the Minnesota winter until spring. Only takes an hour or two on shore power to get them back to 100%. Those of you where it doesn't get very cold (around freezing, sometimes) may want to think about removal and inside storage/charging. But for us in Chicago and North climates, the cold is a pretty good preservative!
