Last minute trip to Fort Collins, Col

Just was told we are heading to Fort Collins, Col this weekend. Our youngest just moved there last month and mama wants to check it out before the weather gets too bad. Anyone know/recommend any campgrounds in the area? I see that several are already closed for the year.

I'm not complaining, this sets me up to visit the oldest in Watford City, ND and do some pheasant hunting. They limited out last weekend on the opener.

Of course on the way back to central Illinois, we'll have to swing by the BIL in North West, MN. I was planning on winterizing this weekend, instead we are starting a 3, 000 mile end of year trip! Life is good.

River View RV park and campground - Loveland. See Benson Sculpture Park and Devils Backbone. Short trip to Estes Park up Thompson Canyon - stop at Best Dam Store. Watch for climbers on the Cliffs going up the canyon to Estes Park. If you go to another campground do this anyway if you have time.

One park to consider -

Colorado Parks & Wildlife - Camping

Should link you to Boyd Lake State Park. About 20 minutes to downtown Ft Collins.

Highway 34 up the big Thompson canyon is closed so you have to take the detour through Lyons and highway 36 to get to Estes Park.

Riverview rv park would be a nice choice. Ft Collins KOA is nice. They have a lake you can fish and some of the sites have their own hot tub.
