Leveling 5er

Good Morning,

I was curious on where you all level your RV's from? Do you use the rear bumper, floor, counters?

About a foot inside the main door. I use 2 levels at the same time so I can see both directions. Then I go to the front bedroom and place the level on the dresser. It's usually VERY close to perfect and perfect is close enough for me.

I fine tune mine using a level in fridge to make sure it's level over everything else

For the side to side leveling with our Anderson levelers, we use a level on the back bumper. My wife watches the level while I back onto the levelers, and alerts me on the walkie-talkie when we're level.

For the fore and aft, we hold a three foot level on the side of the trailer up near the hitch. We butt the edge of the level up against one of the seams in the aluminum. That way, I can easily check it myself, or my wife can do the level and keep me informed without the need for the walkie-talkies.

I use a 24" level on the floor just inside the door. Installed a LevelMatePro this past week but have yet to calibrate it. Hope to do that this weekend and my bubble level is promoted to "backup".

That is the exact reason I am asking. My LevelMatePro will be delivered today, so this is my weekend task.

As I said, I haven't calibrated it yet. I've found a mounting location and have attached it and taken the required measurements and entered them into its setup. Out of curiosity I told it to save the orientation as if it were level and when I turn it on it tells me that the rig is level.

If the accuracy is as advertised this will be a pretty cool little tool. (I like toys )

One of my slides is heavy and am interested to see how that affects the 5th when extended vs retracted.

And wouldn't you know; bought it, installed it and they introduced a new model with on/off switch before I could actually use it.

I ordered mine the other day, and reached out to the company, and he confirmed I am getting the new model

I use a 4' level on the rear bumper for my side to side leveling, then use it on the floor for front to rear leveling once unhitched. Simple, and way more accurate than any small, stick on type of level.

Actually I used to measure inside the door of my 2017 Eagle HT 27.5 RLTS with a 2' level. Now, I purchased a level from CW that is permanently attached to the top front of my Morryde hitch. It shows both front to back as well as side to side (with increments) and works dead nuts level EVERY Time...........https://images4.campingworld.com/Cam.../30939nnew.jpg

I use the stick on bubble levels. To set them properly you do need to level the trailer first. For that I used a 3ft level on the floor over the axles. Once the stick ons are set they work well every time.

I have been told by the dealer and I read in the refrigerator instructions that the refrigerator MUST be level. Now I don't know about your trailer but when I follow the dealer instructions and use a bubble level in the center of the freezer floor the rest of the trailer tilts to the right. If I level the floor the refrigerator is n=NOT level and the dealer as well as another trusted shop both told me it will eventually cause the refrigerator to fail, a very expensive replacement job.

Following the dealer instructions I set my 5er up perfectly level and then attached some good quality levels to the corner right by the landing leg switch.

Just a simple 9" torpedo level that we keep just inside the door. I set it about a foot or so inside on the floor when checking both front/back and sideways.

The refrigerator level thing is not as critical as they would have you believe. Look up in your manual and find out how far off level they can be and still run fine.

Mine runs while on the road when the nose of the trailer is 4" higher than level.

When your driving, all the bumps, slowing, speeding up, stopping, starting, that all keeps the ammonia from gathering in one place.

When you're stopped and not level it all settles in one place, not good.

In my past life I investigated vehicle fires for insurance companies. I have seen may RVs that burned on the side of the road and all of them had one thing in common. The Gas was left on!

A small leak, a spark and your RV is gone. Never drive with the gas tank turned on!

The refrigerator will keep food cool for a long time when the gas is off. I just start mine up when I stop for lunch and never have a problem.

Just look up how off level the mfg says the refer can be.

Yep, I've seen roadside RV fires too.
