Made the move to a 3/4 ton today

Was towing our 29REKS with a 2009 Ford F150 and made the move to a 2015 F250 today. I just didn't feel good towing with the F150 this last trip. The tranny valve body was replaced under power train warranty this past Nov because of a leak and I wonder if it was due to towing the REKS. Along with that we have noticed the new transmission doing some bizzare shifting this summer, probably stress from overload, and the 5.4 has been ticking a little the past two years. I was lucky today and got a great deal on a used 250 that was brought in two days ago for trade with only 1660 miles on it and it was purchased Oct 10 2015 and was stored and is of course in showroom condition. Can't wait to tow with it

Congratulations! We did the same thing a couple of years ago. The F150 seemed to pull fine I just didn't like the "screaming transmission" when climbing hills. We were well within the tow specs but knew the sound of that transmission stress couldn't be healthy. Glad we did too, as we just upgraded to our new trailer that wouldn't have been possible with the F150. Enjoy!!!

We towed with a 1500, then a 2500HD gasser, and now a 3500HD diesel. Tough to look back now, love the HD and mama loves the "coal power"!!

While my TT doesn't have the weight of a 29REKS, I can say switching to a more capabale truck was well worth the money. The handling difference between a 1500 and 2500HD was night and day difference to me. Congratulations on your purchase!

Congrats on the 3/4 ton. Once you get to tow the camper with it, let us know what you think. I'm sure you'll be very pleased...

Congo Ratz on the 250. As SouthCo said, please give us feed back on the towing experience with it.
My first truck back when I was a kid, was a 3/4 ton. From that I went to a 1/2 ton, and though it served me very well and did everything I ever needed it to do, there was still something missing. When I went back to a 3/4 ton I figured out what was missing. I have never looked back since.

We did the same last year. My Tundra felt fine pulling the new camper, but gas mileage was abysmal and we were concerned about being over our payload. Like you, we found a great deal on a used 2015 diesel and made the move.

Towing mileage is almost double (7 mpg to 12.5 mpg), we don't have to worry about being overloaded or leaving stuff home on trips.
