It's not about the mess. You are right, you shouldn't make a mess if you do it right. Wearing gloves is all about touching the stuff you can't control, the dump station hose, your own dump tube, etc. Unless you are disinfecting your hose with bleach after every use?

And when visiting the dump station, don't forget to keep your feet in a safe place ... as we're parked 'next in line', we observe others getting blow-out on their shoes and pants or slogging through puddles around the sewer hole! Phew and ugh! How about a HazMat Suit??

Good thought Hattie. Ever been the guy behind someone who didn't know how to keep the mess from happening? They usually don't clean up after themselves. Goes back to my comment about the hose at the dump station...

There are "known unknowns" (our sewage) and "unknown unknowns" (their sewage). IMHO it is "fear of the unknown unknowns" of who/what went BEFORE you when lifting the sewer drain, stepping around the drain pan, or turning-on the spigot to rinse the tailings! Great ways to contract/spread Norovirus, E. Coli, or Salmonella.

Ew. Just EW! I don't know if I wouldn't just pull myself out of line and find some other way to dump my tanks (at home or at a truck stop or at another park...) if I saw someone making that kind of mess of things.

Well, I don't usually use dump stations..THEY'RE FILTHY! I have never had a site without sewer nor will I. I use MY hoses and the black water flush system. Now that being said, if I need to get dirty..well of course I have gloves. But I don't make it a habit to put gloves on everytime. So far, so good.

Ever wonder why people wash their hands AFTER going to the bathroom? I guarantee your hands are dirtier than your privates. At least I hope so. And yes, wash them after.

Funny quote, but I'm not sure that is an apples to apples comparison.

Personally I use a barrier (toilet paper) when I wipe after #2.
I also use a barrier (rubber gloves) when I dump my tanks.

I can only assume from YOUR post that you don't wear rubber gloves when dumping tanks and you bare hand wipe your rear end when you are done #2?

The op's question about where to get gloves has been answered.
