Murphy bed mattress topper

I have the white hawk 24mbh. I am wanting to put a mattress topper in the bed and still be able to fold it back into the wall. I am interested if anyone else has done this on any of the murphy bed models.

I am thinking the 1 inch toppers should fit, but not sure about 2 inch toppers. I do have a three inch topper and it appears to be too big.

We tried a topper on ours and did not have good luck. The topper slid down when the murphy bed was in the up position against the wall. It was a bear to try and pull the topper up and out since the bed would not lower away from the wall but a few inches. We took the topper back to Costco.

Topper

We put both a 1.5 inch egg crate pad with a mattress protector over it on ours with no problems. But eventually we decided to ditch the Denver mattress and replaced it an 8 inch Serenia foam mattress.

We use a memory foam topper that we bought from Costco. It comes with a mattress pad style fabric covering. It does slide toward the top of the bed when stowed but isn't too difficult to pull back into place and squish back flat. It is somewhat self shaping so once it's back in the right spot it generally evens itself out within a few minutes.

Curious how thick the topper is your using? We just bought a 3" topper from Costco and I " think" its to thick. The bed won't fold back up with it on and I don't want to cut it to length until I know for sure it will allow the bed to fold.

Murphy bed mattress topper

It is 2 and 3/4 inches thick. We normally have that along with the comforter that came with the trailer and sheets when we stow the bed. I am pretty sure we did not cut the pad shorter even though it seemed too long at first. The only time we had trouble folding the bed back up was if the topper was too close to the top of the mattress.

Well after some trial and error I was able to get the 3" topper to fit. I had to cut 8" off the topper otherwise it would rub the ceiling and not allow the bed to fold.
