Hello! My husband and I are picking up our first travel trailer tomorrow, a 2014 JayFlight 19rd, we are very excited but since we have never owned a trailer before I was wondering if there was any recommendations for a first time buyer, I know every time I buy a car I am overwhelmed with add ons. Also can this model handle a group 27 battery set up. I am very new at this and feel pretty lost when it comes to the battery set up. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have a 198RD, which is pretty much the same model. Mine came with a single Group 24 battery and I have since added a second group 24. It is a nice fit, but there is not much room left to spare. I am pretty sure a single group 27 will fit in the tray, but I don't think you would be able to fit two. Maybe someone else here has a work around?

There is no reason I can see why a G27 battery would not fit.. just make sure the battery you get does not have a CCA rating on it.. those are not true deep discharge batteries and will have a short life in an RV.

I suggest dual Grp 24 over a single Grp 27 if you can fit it. I have had that set up on both my 26bh and 29qbh. I was able to fit both batteries and battery boxes.

If you can fit dual 24 then you can also fit dual GC2s too. Lots of info regarding pros and cons of 24/27 vs GC2 - I prefer the dual 24s but something you may want to look into a bit before buying a single 27

Welcome. Being your first TT, be ready at your pick up. Lots of info about about how to operate, and it will come very quickly. ( especially this time of year as the dealers have a lot of business )

Be sure to slow them down and ask all the questions you want. Take a note book with you and write everything down.

Start by asking for the user manuals, and use them / refer to them as you do your walk through. Take some pictures or video with your phone if that helps you remember " how to"

The TT may come with a battery, and probably a 24. If you want a second one, that may be the time to do it, so that they match and have same date codes.
