New TV..ready for Alaska
Picked up a near new, 9000 miles, 2012 duelly 4x4 today. Last year before you have to add DEF fluid. I'll park and only use for towing. I'll also modify it same as my other 2012. If I ever want to pull a fiver again I'm ready. Has the HO diesel with Asian trans which is same as the 450 and 550 trucks use.

Yes, almost 40 years ago. 1978 in a 28 ft argosy. Two kids. Both front windows were broken and cracked and taped up by end of trip. Front of trailer full of dents. 1/2 ton suburban. Several flats.... Lots of challenges then. Looking back I don't see how we did it. Now no problems. Roads much slower then. All paved now. Totally different now.

We made the trip in 1980 in a E-150 van we converted for camping. No kids, 1 dog. Windshield made it as far as Whitehorse on the way up. Had screens covering headlights and radiator. Dog was a wreck after so many miles on gravel - he'd pant and drool at the sound of stones hitting the wheel wells... and there was LOTS of that.
Only 2 flats, but they happened at the same time! And only 1 spare. Had to hitchhike to a service station. We were lucky to be only about ~15 miles from one.
At night through the Yukon on the way up, the Northern Lights were amazing!

When we start the trip I will make a new post with daily updates. There is also a app, Glympse. The day before or anytime you send me your phone number and I will add you to Glympse and you will be able to track me , as long as there is phone signal. It will show exactly where I'm at and the speed I'm going.
