North Carolina Coast
Hello All!
Anyone here from the North Carolina coast? I ask as my wife and I plan to attempt to move south for milder climate and more peacefull living conditions.
Also some health problems, me with respiratorty problems and the wife close to being on disability. North Carolina is first on our list. We hope to be able to maybe find a little place
( less than 1000sf )and live frugally. Although we may just live in our trailer. We've been married 30yrs and have only had 3 vacations. What I'm looking for is a little perspective on living there. Any and all input welcome.
And last, we have the ability to go anywhere and live. No ties.
Thanks for listening
Harry

Good Luck with your move and am hoping you get the input you desire. Wish I could convince my wife to venture south for the cold winter months.

Are you referring to the Outer Banks? Been there several times, nice place but it can still be a bit brutal in Winter if you are fulltiming (That is if we have a NORMAL Winter! ). Lotsa wind, that`s why the Wright brothers liked it for their plane tests.

Oh, Lee you're scarin me. But no on the Outter Banks. Actually we don't have a destination. We planned to leave in August and just poke around until we found a place we liked.
Now due to delays maybe late October. Or not. Still not sure and looking for all the info we can get. How far south before we stand a chance of not freezing. We are sorta on, ahem, a Qwest.
Maybe we have to wait. Maybe the south west instead. We just feel the need to go somewhere else. Anywhere but here at times. Some place where life moves a bit slower.
People are nicer. The air cleaner. We know it's out there.
Thanks
Harry

Best of luck in your quest. I live in Charleston, SC and I can tell you it is retiree friendly. I would suggest you find a place that has ready access to medical services.
Wilmington would be my choice for NC.. Where are you coming from?

From Wilmington on down is nice. The summers are hot though. The winters mild, but it does get cold sometimes!

We got one of them up here but it's not safe. Last time I was there a woman was sittin out front in a wheel chair wearin an oxygen mask and smokin a cigarette.
Seein that I figured the air wasn't safe to breath. So we left.

You can make life slow down without moving anywhere. It's a personal decision to some extent! Meanwhile, come down and look around. Winters are mild compared to where you are.

We live about 1 hour north of Wilmington and I gotta tell ya Wilmington, Brunswick Co beach areas and Pender Co beach areas are really nice. Anything on the water is going to be expensive. On a positive note very rarely any snow and seasonably pleasant 10 months out of the year(July & August can be hot). I-40 deadends at Wlimington, you've got the ILM airport, excellent medical services, close to Myrtle Beach and the list goes on.
Best of luck to you!
