We are travelling to Chicago from Manitoba Canada. Our plan is to overnight somewhere from Fargo to Fergus Falls (there abouts) We are having a difficult time finding a decent campground close to I94. Any suggestions, need only 1 night.

thanks

I would advise avoiding the oil drilling area. It can be like the wild wild west.

Oil drilling area is west of Fargo/Grand Forks.

I haven't stayed anywhere around Fargo/Fergus Falls. If you're sticking on I94 then there is a nice campground in St. Cloud MN ("St Cloud Campground").

I'd also suggest looking at US Hwy #2 as a route. Much more scenic and more camping options. If that's too far north, then also consider US Hwy #10. There's camping around Detroit Lakes (east of Fargo).

On our trip out west last year we visited the Theodore Roosevelt National Park and camped at Red Trails Campground 250 E River Rd, Medora, ND 58645 (701) 623-4317

We also stayed at Tipsinah Mounds Campground 26527 Tipsinah Mounds Rd, Elbow Lake, MN 56531 (218) 685-5114

Both were decent campgrounds.

If Alexandria, MN isn't too far, you'll find a number of places and maybe on one on a lake.
