One More LED Light question

Hey everyone, I really need to install some decent LED lights in the camper. I've purchased a few and have been really disappointed with the results. A few were really blue when on and some were really dim. I've read countless threads and reviews and really have no idea what to purchase. I'm looking for wedge lights for the ceiling and some automotive style lights for the fixtures above the table/couch. I was hoping that someone who had already installed LED lights in their trailer and were very happy with the results would link me up with them. I'm looking for white light around the same brightness as the 921's? ceiling bulbs and that don't get hot. Really appreciate it, thanks.

You do need to do some research. Typical incandescent bulbs are around 2700-3500 Kelvin (temperature color, aka wavelength) If you go to a lower kelvin you will get more yellow white (warm), and if you go higher kelvin you get more blue white (cool). Next thing to look at is your lumens. This is how you now calculate the brightness of the bulb.

I purchased a bunch of lights like these. Mine were china made, so I bought a few extras just incase, never have had one fail. The adhesive on most of them cannot handle the heat, so some people use construction adhesive, I used a heat transfer tape for heat sinks. Mine are sticking nice

This is what I've been using. The color is spot on with the incandescent 921s and they are a touch brighter (which is really nice).

I went through the same thing as you with the "blueish" tint I was finding with the cheap chinese elements. The ones I linked are not the cheapest on the market, but they are the best solution I've found so far. I buy one or two sets every few months and almost have my entire trailer "retrofitted".

I've bought several sets via eBay from various sellers (all China based). As Jag suggests, shop for color (Kelvin) and brightness (lumens). I like about 3000k (seems to dupe the incandescent color to me) and I try to get close to the lumens of the original bulb. IIRC the 921 bulb is about 260 lumen (this is from memory, so do your own research).
If I order to replace a dozen bulbs I'll order a couple (or 4) extra. Out of the 40-ish I've bought I've had 2 failures.
The quality seems to vary but overall I've had good results.

Go to this post and scroll down to post #3 where I have some information regarding the LED's, Kelvin, Lumens that you need for your research. I would not recommend any LED's less than 600 Lumens (brightness) for the main ceiling lights.

Here is better sample to give you a better idea as to which one you want.

I like the idea of side-by-side color comparison, but that particular image looks a bit misleading. It's almost like they're one "click" too yellow. The "natural white" on the chart looks more like "warm white" in real life. And the "cool white" on the chart is not nearly as "blue" as they look in real life. Perhaps it's the lumens of the lights in the examples, but they just don't look right IMO.

As has been mentioned here and in other discussions, do not buy elements based on a subjective description of the color (such as "warm white"). If the seller's description does not offer a "Kelvin" rating for color, don't buy them. IIRC, the color of standard 921 incandescent bulbs is between 2800 and 3200 Kelvin, which is commonly referred to as "warm white".

True, but not all China made LEDs are created equal.

This is where I made my mistake. Thank you all for the info and currently researching single base, one contact 2 level pin LED lights to replace the lights over the dining room table. The M4 site is very informative.
