Just spent a couple of hours in Newtown. They have set aside a location where they are accepting donations of items. At that location, sadly, they have bomb sniffing dogs who have to scan each box, bad and item to be sure it's safe. The workers at the location are grateful for the outpouring of support and continue in good spirits.

The location where the donations are going is not near the Sandy Hook school, but more towards the town hall area of the town. While we were waiting our time to unload the 36 boxes of new Teddy Bears, we saw people delivering food, cookies, hand made items and anything they could. It is really a beautiful site to see people from all over bringing things in. One really caught my eye, they entered with 2 small bags. The elderly woman hand crocheted, 4 teddy bears, with the names of one child on the shirt. She's been making these all week and dropping them off when they are completed. Other people were showing up with boxes of cookies for the children, and sandwiches for the workers.

The trucks continued to come, and unload their donated items. While this is a wonderful thing to see, the town really can't take any more donations, they have enough Teddy Bears. While everyone is so glad for the warm thoughts, I could see they would really like this all to go away so they can begin to heal as a community.
