Pain free dumping

How can I make dumping my tanks the most pain free and smell free experience? Please share your tips for avoiding messes, smells and maintaining good plumbing and sanitation.

And no, I can't get anyone else to do it.

The sewer hose end that attaches to the RV is easy as they're all the same. However, the other end will get connected to all sizes and shapes of sewer pipes. I have a Valterra 90 degree elbow (with drip cap) and a corresponding sewer adapter.

This works for most situations. For the oddballs, I have one of those foam rubber doughnuts that I insert in the sewer pipe and then slide the end of the Valterra inside it.

I would also suggest (if you don't already carry one) getting a garden hose and use that for rinsing your sewer hose. Yes, you could use your drinking water hose to do this but, sooner or later, you'll bump the hose against the inside of the sewer hose and then you'll get that yucky, unsanitary feeling the next time you hook that hose up to to your city water inlet. (and then, you'll surely be making a trip to a store that sells garden hoses).

Wear surgical type gloves when you do this.

As long as you're careful and methodical in what you're doing, it's not as difficult or nasty as you think. However, If you still feel uneasy about it, you might want to watch the movie RV for some additional pointers and hints.

As others have said GET A RHINO HOSE. Then just before you pull the black water tank valve... check everything again... esp that all 4 locking tabs are engaged at the hose sewer pipe connection...

I use the Rhino and have had no surprises with it. Works perfectly.
