Panoramas from camping in Asheville, North Carolina

Here is a virtual tour with panorama's from our labor day camping at the KOA East in Asheville, North Carolina.

Make sure to click on the thumbnails on the bottom to see the different panoramas including the
inside of our 2012 Jayco Swift 26bh.

Click here to see the panoramas and let me know what you think of them.

That is so cool! You've gotta share how you create these things, I have family that would love to see some of the places we go!

I wish I could say it is easy and simple, but to do good quality panoramas takes a DSLR camera with a wide angle lens, a panohead (it rotates the camera around the focus point of the lens), stitching software to combine the photos into one photo, panorama software to take the single combined photo into an interactive panorama. Of course you can take panoramas with point and shoot cameras and even with smart phones (I believe the new Iphone 5 has a panorama app built in, but it does not do a full 360 up and down), but their quality is ok at best outdoors, and not good indoors with limited lighting.

Below is the equipment I used to make the virtual tour:

Nikon D90 w/10.5mm Fisheye Lens
Nodal Ninja MK III Panohead
PTGui software to stitch the photos
PhotoShop CS5 to edit the stitched photo
Pano2VR software to create the panorama and tour.

Panorama's and virtual tours has been a hobby of mine for over 10 years.
Now if I can just make some money doing it (at least to pay for the equipment, the
wife would really like that I know).

Feel free to ask me any questions, I'll tell you what I know.

Very nice. I love KOA's. You always know what you're getting.
I am going to have to put that place on our list :-)

Thanks for sharing.

Best regards,
Doug

Thanks for the info - it does seem like a lot of work, but the results are great. Really feels like you're there! Beautiful campground, I hope someday to make it all the way from California to North Carolina. NASCAR fan, you see.

I like what you did! Thanks for the pics!

But man, that one pic looked like you could have reached out and shook hands with the neighbors in the motor home!

Wow Sean, that's some skill. I really like the effect you get when viewing with an iPad. I've seen it when you can navigate the photo with a mouse, but not by just moving the iPad. Really cool :-).
