Parallel Honda 2000i or Honda 3000

Anyone out the running these units? Have you run both set ups? Which would you recommend ? Does anyone know what set up would actually have the highest output?

I have the Honda EU2000i and the EU2000i Companion - a great, reliable and quiet set up, and I can use them separately for less tasks. I believe when combined together with the parallel cable they produce about 3,700 watts. Individually, the 2000's weigh at 46.3 lbs each, when empty. Depending on which EU3000 you look at, the EU3000is or the EU3000i Handy, these generators weigh in at 134 lbs and 78 lbs, respectively.

Lots of generators out their with a cheaper price tag but I have never regretted going with the Hondas.

I have run both setups. On a 30 amp unit, the difference is the air conditioner. If you have the 13.5, the 3000 will run it. The 3000 is not rated to run the 15,000 AC unit, but two 2000s are rated for it. My personal preference is the 3000 if you can use it. It can be a pain to move because it takes two people, but it is quieter and runs longer on a tank of gas. I also liked the electric start because I found that if the 2000's sat they did not always like to start right off. We put a lot of hours on several 3000's in our family and they were all very reliable for us.

Ok thank you for the info I'm thinking the Honda 3000 will be a little to heavy as I will be moving it around on my own. Does the parallel cable run a 15000 air conditioner or do I have to buy the $200 parallel kit.

I recently purchased the 2000s with the companion and they work great so far. Main reason for going with the pair was portability they are compact and easily moved by myself. I haven't got one yet but plan to get the 6 gallon auxiliary take to increase the run time.

I had one regular unit and one companion and used the parallel cable and it work fine for running my 15,000 AC. To increase my run time I built a kit that let me run both from a six gallon boat tank. That made a big difference. Sounds like two 2000s are the way to go for you

I have the 2000's in paralell as well with the extended run tank. I like this set up.

I too have 2 Honda 2000s and run them in parallel to run my 15K AC. I bought the 2000s because of their reputation (reliability) and portability (less then 50 pounds).

Last trip out in near 100 degree heat I was getting about 7 hours of run time on them running the AC constantly.

I like being able to run only 1 when the AC isn't needed too. Little high on cost compared to others but, I've not been disappointed once since I bought them last summer.

Maintenance is simple on them and even after sitting with gas I can fire them within a few pulls.

I have the Yamaha EF3000iSE, which is also a 3000 watt generator and very comparable to the Honda. This discussion made me curious and since I needed to drag it out to do its periodic exercise anyway, I decided to try it out with our new trailer which has a 15K Coleman A/C. I'm sitting in the trailer right now with the A/C running. Now, the battery is charged and absolutely nothing else is on, so it may be running near or at its limit, but it's running.

I'm not sure how or if it helps the conversation, but thought I'd throw that out there.

You can get a wheel kit on eBay to make moving the EU3000is much MUCH easier.

I bought one of these 2 years ago.

I run the two Yamahas you see in my signature. Easier to move around and they support my 15K a/c I run each of them once a month. They have a fuel shut off, unlike the Hondas. This empties the fuel from the carb. I always use non ethanol gas in these as well as my 1996 Honda Nighthawk.

I had a Honda 2000 and recently upgraded to a champion 3100 with a key fob auto start and stop. Runs one airconditioner and everthing else in my 36KTPS Pinnacle. Very pleased.

If you buy 2 normal eu2000i's you will need the $200 parallel kit.
this is to add a 30 amp plug,the ones built into the gens are only rated at 20 amps

If you buy 1 normal eu2000i and 1 companion eu2000i.Then you will just need the $40 parallel kit.The kit comes with a parallel cable and a 30 amp twist lock to a 30 amp travel trailer adapter.The companion eu2000i has a built in 30 amp socket.

And yes it will run your 15000 btu a/c just fine,I have a progressive industry's surge protector on mine.If you have one you will have to run the a/c with Eco mode off.The surge protector will flip off and kill the power otherwise.
