Paying it forward

I don't write and share this for pats on the back because my belief is that most, if not all of you, reading it would not hesitate to do the same. I share it to illustrate that the RV nation is comprised of good, solid folks.

In short, DW and I drove eight hours today, pulling our FW up north and leaving it for a friend. His wife is in ICU with an expected stay 6-8 weeks. Money it too tight for hotels so he has been driving 4 hours a day and wearing himself thin.

We landed the rig at a park next to the hospital, pre-payed for one month, stocked the fridge and pantry, and handed over the keys. Now he can walk to the hospital. We are devastated over our friend being injured, but glad to help out, knowing we took a lot of his plate today.

I am proud to be part of a larger group (all of you) who are plain old good people.

I admire you for what you've done, and yes, we would do the same thing. There's always somebody in need. Just wish there were more people in this world that thought like this.

There are plenty of us John we have just taken a backseat to all the lunacy going on these days.

We are still doing the same things we've always done, never looking for recognition just being good honest decent people but we've been made to think we should he ashamed because we still have values.

Many hospitals actually have hookups available for exactly these situations. Our trailer has logged time at our local children's hospital for the benefit of some friends which is how I figured that out.

If they stay extends past the month, it might be interesting to check if the hospital can accommodate the RV onsite. Just a thought -- what you have already done is amazing and I would like to think anyone would do the same.

Yes, that is very good advice. Unfortunately the park's closing date is expected to be on or around October 18th. The park is in northern michigan and cold weather will start setting in around then. Once it closes we will figure something out.

Awesome! Now he can focus on family not worry about falling a sleep at the wheel, and become injured himself.

Hopefully he, freinds or the hospital can come up with a solution for extending his stay locally in the next few week.

Hoping your friend's wife a speedy recovery.

Which side of the bridge? 4 hours from Haslett puts you up near Traverse City I would think...

As soon as you said up north I had to see where you were at in the Mitten.

Our friends home is in the EUP so they are over the bridge. We took the FW to Petosky. So you were pretty darn close on your guess.

It's fantastic that you are able to help your friends out like that. I'm sure it means a lot to them.
