So when we camp she is able to trick or treat with our young twins. This weekend was planned well in advance and when we heard there might be a chance of snow, that did not detur us. We arrived, CG was packed on Friday evening, by 2pm saturday we were one of about 25 familes still there. It snowed and it snowed. Got about 13 inches in the capground. It was so peaceful standing by the fire as the snow fell all around. I love a to enjoy a cigar and a ****tail while sitting by the fire, and this nite as the snow piled up it was gorgeous. when it got to much to stay outside, our camper was warm and inviting, and watching the snow fall outside was amazing.
Most people thought we were crazy, but we all just loved it. (not too much fun trying to pack up and get out the following day, trees were bent over, had to leave the camper till the next weekend...but so worth it)

We camped that same weekend, also at a local CG with a Halloween themed event. The difference here was we got rain, very high winds and even some tidal flooding in the CG! But the festivities went on and most folks stayed. I would have rather had the snow, myself.

CARAMEL ROLLS

1 loaf frozen bread dough sliced thin (If it’s too frozen to slice you can mic it for half a min or so)
3 oz pkg regular butterscotch pudding (not instant)
½ cup melted margarine
½ cup Brown sugar
½ cup chopped nuts ( I used Pecans)
1/2 tsp cinnamon
I read this to my DW and she thought orange zest would be a nice addition for this recipe. May have to try this next weekend...

Let me know how it turns out. I might give it a try also. I have a favorite cookie recipe.....lemon chocolate chip that has zest of lemon in it and it's great too,

PharOe,

Copyed your bun recipe and will definitely try it out.
Your version of a perfect camping morning is how we all must feel. I am new to RVing, have taken the G2 out 3 weekends last year. (Got it in Jun) and can't wait to go this Spring.

Well red horse this thread is about imagining your perfect day when your no longer at work and you are somewhere warm looking out at a lake and the smell of campfires filters the air, the trees are green and maybe you have a nice cold beer in your hand while you gently swing in your hammock near your very own camping trailer! hope this helps, if not...oh well I tried.... Btw you can rain on my parade anyday. As long as I'm in a Tt and not a tent, I happen to love rain once in a while

Hate to kick a man while hes down, but here is a real pic for you. Canoeing last summer on String Lake in Grand Tetons National Park WY. The water was so clear you could see the fish swimming (I hope your not a fisherman) right under our canoe. Nothing like a morning canoeing under the mountains on a sun sparkled day with a picnic lunch in tow!

We are trying to "live the dream of full timing"; but, I made a commitment to a friend of mine and help him with his business (I retired 01/19/11 and sold the house 11/28/11). So, I'm still vicariously living thru others - although I am technically full time living in my fiver. Just to need to find the mountains and the lake...

P.S. send me the cookie recipe. Not sure if the kids would like the lemon, but, lemon squares and meringe are my favorites!

Yeah actually it struck me earlier....you live where? Oh yeah Texas where you could probably camp 8 months out of 12 and we are in Manitoba where that would be maybe 3 if we are lucky. so you win , Phar0e, score 3 , Redhorse score 10!

I sent the recipe to you. You are a little closer to the full time thing than we are but we are planning for the future that's why we bought something a little smaller now and the plan is to have it paid off 10 years down the road when we can trade it it for something more substantial. Keep on looking for those mountains and lakes they are out there!

A perfect morning for us is hearing the grandkids in the bunkroom mumbling something about hoping we will make pancakes that morning plus hearing the coffeepot cranking up. C'mon springtime!!!!!

You're being kind to me now. :hihi: I'm anxiously watching my retirement calendar (5, maybe 6 years) and looking forward to visiting some spots like the one in your pic.
Yeah we can probably camp 12 outa 12 but I long for some distant destinations, hitting the road for 4 to 6 weeks at a time. That's why we travel, to see "different". If I wanted "same" I'd stay home.

Yep your right, that's what it's all about for us too. we have the wanderlust virus. we have a beautiful national park with everything you could want for camping. "Riding Mountain", only an hour away But we somehow have this need to get in a car and go see it all! sometimes I think staying put for a week or two would be nice so that is what I look forward too when we reach the full timers stage, having the best of both wotlds Right now like others here mentioned we enjoy taking our grandkids with us (occasionally) and building those memories.
