Plans for Holiday weekend?

Do your Labor Day plans include camping?
We decided this year to avoid the long holiday weekends in the campgrounds. Those were always our least favorite trips due to the crazy roads and full capacity campgrounds. Being empty nesters we can make our own long weekends without having to worry about school schedules. For July 4th week we checked in on the Sunday prior and checked out on the 4th. It was wonderful!

Nope! Son and his family (wife and 3 grands) are coming in from IL seeing them is always better than any camping trip we've ever been on. Unless of course they are camping with us.

I avoid Long weekends at Campgrounds on purpose. I was young once

Not retired but with 6 weeks vacation/year, I tend to book Mon-Thurs or Tues-Friday type 3 nighters If I just want to get out for a bit outside of our 2-3 week summer vacations.

We too have always avoided the CGs on holiday weekends. Been there, done that, have the scars (emotional and physical) to prove it!

This year, I'll be coddling my 9 mos pregnant wife, and trying not to put an ice pick through my ear while getting some shopping in for baby supplies! We'll see how that goes after our last baby shower, which is this weekend too!

Going to Cultus lake for 4 night. That will make 40 nights camped this year. Hoping to hit 45 by end of season.

We're not retired, just had kids early and they're adults now and aren't interested in joining us. We also love after Labor Day camping when things are less crowded, heading to Myrtle Beach in October. We enjoy camping with my sister, brother-in-law, and their active boys (12, 9, and 3).... for weekend trips.

Indeed we're headed to the Great Sacandaga Lake to camp and do some boating for the long Labor Day weekend.A nice added touch this weekend on the lake is the annual Ring Of Fire followed by the fireworks display.

Like several of you, I'm more of an "avoid holidays" camper when I can. Last Memorial Day at Jellystone was a ZOO! The GS had a time tho so it was a good trip.
The bride wanted to go someplace (Galveston) for the upcoming Labor Day but we're leaving for a WDW visit on the 11th so we're in our "get ready" mode for that.
This should be a nice trip as we're taking a few days each way and have a leisurely pace planned. This will be our first "solo" trip to visit the mouse. We've talked about it for years and finally getting around to it.
World big, life short.

My house is 900' off the road and surrounded by state game land. I will be camping in the driveway this weekend to avoid all the chaos!

We had planned to go to Haines, Alaska but weather forecast talked us out of it. Five hours there and five hours back just ain't worth sitting in the rain and for 3 days!

Will get some projects done around home instead.

Our Labor Day plans do include camping, just not this weekend. We're headed out to camp Monday morning hopefully arriving just after most other weekenders are returning home.

Passed several rigs on the way home from the office. I have to admit my eyes were a little green. Decided not to go since the kids started school last week, but I wish I was heading off. Something tells me I'll be visiting camp driveway this weekend.

We are in prep mode for getting ready for our maiden voyage trip in the TT. We have a list of things to get and do still so that will be our fun holiday weekend. I'm ok with it though, as others have said I'm not sure holiday weekends of packed CG is really our cup of tea

Sad thing is many folks stop camping and winterize after Labor Day. The best camping of the year will just be starting then IMO. FALL!

Yeah! Go Fall. IMHO best time of the camping year.

I have never thought it through, I just know it is.

We are definitely going camping! We just picked up our new Greyhawk 31FK on Tuesday and we are not going to sit home just because it is Labor Day. :-) We did select the small Medoc Mountain State Park in Hollister, NC because it is close and has only about 30-odd campsites. Shouldn't be too crowded.

+1!!! After Labor Day is the best time to camp in Texas, esp after the weather breaks and things cool down a little!
