Please be careful camping

With the way the wind is blowing and how dry it is be careful with fires. As of tomorrow at noon the forest service is going to shut down 2 millon acres of the coronado national forest. We have 3 big fires going now and sure don't need any more anywhere else. It is not a pretty site with the fires burning, so please be careful out there, but still have fun. Ernie

Yes. Be careful with fires is a good warning to all.

At my seasonal camp site, I fill a large 5 gallon pail of water, put the pail close to our fire pit, then start the fire. If something happens, I have a large pail of water within reach. A little trick I learned as a kid. And, continue to teach others....

Hope this "keep a large pail of water within reach" helps others as well...

Campfires

Heard that alot of the campgrounds, both private and public are banning campfires due to the extra dry conditions.

Keep in mind we don't boondock, but if we do have a pit fire, Don always has the "green" hose set up and at ready.

When we travel without wood or no open fires allowed, we use one of those propane gas "Little Portable Campfires". Yeah, I know, not the same as the real deal, but still gives us a way to roast marshmallows with the kids when camping where no open fires are allowed
