Question Power tongue jack

I'm looking to buy a power jack for my husband. I've seen several brands and locations to purchase, but I'm clueless. Any recommendations?

Hello and Welcome to JOF,

We recently replaced our power tongue jack with a Barker VIP 3500lb 24" rise. The reason for the height, we can open the tailgate all the way down while the TT is hooked up. It really has come in handy especially when you forget to put something in the bed of the truck. You will find the 18" rise the tailgate while connected will most likely not completely clear the jack.

Barker VIP 3500 24" Black Electric Power Tongue Jack 3 500 lb 2 1 4" Post New | eBay

We chose the black because sometimes the white is prone to yellowing in the intense sun.

Hope this helps. Take Care.

I would look at eTrailer. I purchased our power jack from them (and several other items)and have been TOTALLY satisfied with every buying experience. If you are unsure of your needs they have actual experts that can help guide your purchase. Customer service could not be better and with their "lowest price" pledge. I just can't buy from any other source. Hope this helps, Dave

I purchased a Husky HB4500 4500 lbs. Brute Power Jack and it has worked great for me; they get very good reviews. I've see knockoff brands for less, but I didn't want to skimp on something like this.

I'm also a Husky fan. I installed the Brute 4500 on my tongue, and it works GREAT. I love that I have plenty of capacity to lift my trailer and my truck to make the weight distribution spring bars easier to attach. The other really cool thing about the Husky Brute is that it uses ball bearings for the screw drive instead of the standard screw drive. Smooth operation, and much more resistant to water penetration than the standard OEM power tongue jack. In fact, I haven't bothered with a jack cover for almost a year, and the jack still runs strong and smooth.

You can even get one with a remote!

I just replaced the stock power tongue jack with a Husky Brute 5000 and so far I'm impressed with the new Jack.
Our stock 3500 pound jack started failing after less than two years of use.

X2 on the Barker 3500. I've had this jack for 3 years and have not had a problem with it. I wish I had bought the 24" version but I carry wood blocks to throw under the jack if needed.

I love the remote. I hangs near the kitchen counter to use with the level.

Barker. Made in Michigan not Beijing. Have had mine for 7+ years now with not a single problem. Reviews on this forum also suggest their customer service is excellent.

I replaced the original tongue jack with an Atwood (Made in the USA). The original had a rubber plug on the top (for manual cranking if battery died) and it was probably defective and filled the top assembly with water. Needless to say the electronics did not like it. When I called Camping World (only place close) they had the Atwood and said that they had people replacing the ones with the rubber plug on top for the same reason. It may have been a defect with the plug, because I never pulled it out.

I bought a Barker 3500 due to great reviews and its made in the USA. It comes with a 2 year warranty and if you ever needs parts its made in Michigan, try getting parts or talking to someone for a made in China jack. I found the best price on Amazon and etrailer was just a bit more.

I wasn't aware of its country of origin. My dealer bought a good supply so was able to get a good price on them. I think i'll keep my manual override handle handy just in case. Wish me luck Crabman

A few brands are still made here and some overseas. But whatever you have I do wish you luck!

So, how do I choose the drop? Do I need a Robofoot or drop leg?

I have had a ATWOOD for 14 years, ( installed on two Jayco's) and not one single problem, I am going to replace it, just because of its age, of course I will buy Another Atwood made in the USA.

I had a Lippert 4500# on my 27DSRL which died after one season. I purchased a Stromberg Carlson JET 3755 3500# off of eBay for $109.00 brand new in the box and it worked great all season.
