Preventing door from being put in locked position while in trailer?

This is going to sound odd -- but I had the strangest dream last night and it got me to thinking and worrying a bit.

We just bought a 2017 Jay Flight 26BH with the wide door; the door handle folds back over the door to secure it for driving or storing.

But -- if you're inside -- and someone pulls that door handle over the door -- there's no way out other than the emergency exits. How do you prevent that from happening?

I've obviously seen too many episodes of Criminal Minds!

Thanks in advance

Put a lock on it. Life is full of risks.

I haven't tried but I would think you could push the door hard enough that the grab handle would swing out. There isn't that much force holding the grab handle. But again I've never tried. I actually don't like the grab handle and it stays folded against the trailer.

I don't see a way to lock it into an open position from the inside...

It would probably require a custom lock, or maybe as simple as a pad lock inserted into a drilled hole.

are you talking about the assisted entry handle you can grab onto when stepping into the trailer? If so, they are made so that you can push the door open from the inside.

I believe the OP is and that's what I was thinking... that the door would push it out of the way. Thanks for confirming.

I have one on my trailer and that is exactly what it does. We tested it on other rigs before installing it.

Yes - exactly - and thank you! My husband and I looked at it again last night and agreed, if push came to shove - literally - we'd be okay with getting out

Thanks!

That will NOT prevent door from being opened.
Have someone flip it on door and you be inside. It is kind of spring loaded.......you can get out.
