Propane tank lock

I have not, I have been camping for over 15 years and have never had a propane tank disappear.

Nice idea. My HTT parks in the street, so I am always concerned about its security. I use a cable to secure both tanks and the spare tire.

The only bad part is the unique key. I have a 4 pack of paddle locks that are all keyed the same.

I guess it depends on the type of neighborhood you live in. I, too, have never had one stolen, but if you think there is a good possibility of that happening while the camper is on the street, then go for it. Wouldn't worry while you're in a CG, though. JMHO

Drill a hole through the wingnut and tank holder that line up then use a large lock through it ... the scum will go to the next trailer as yours will be "too much work"

Wow, that looks cool but for the nearly $70 bucks I found it for online, I'm with Seann a drill and a lock if you feel the need to lock up your propane tanks.

I just use nyloc nuts/bolts on the bottom of the tank securing it to the angle iron mount. I guess you could also use a steel cable/pad lock also to the A frame.

I've only known of one case of propane tank theft. It happened on a Fourth of July weekend where two 20# tanks were stolen from a TT that was parked in a self-store. There were other RVs nearby with 30# tanks but I have to think these were taken because someone's gas grill ran out of gas on the holiday and they either couldn't find or were too lazy to find a place to get theirs refilled.

Personally, I have more concern about my battery being stolen or vandals than someone stealing the tank(s). And while we're on the subject of fheft, how many out there have compartment locks that use the infamous "751" key? Now, there's a real opportunity for thieves.

I guess we just never thought about the 751 key, as we never put anything in the storage compartments that cannot be easily and cheaply replaced. Many times in a campground the compartment doors are just latched, not locked. We would rather let potential theives take our wooden blocks, ladder, hose, or elec cord than have to replace parts of the trailer to repair damage done while breaking in. So far, in many years of camping, not one item has ever been taken.

I have always had good luck camping, I think its a campers code, don't steal from others, locks will keep the honest people honest, thieves will be thieves

I have a heavy cable lock on my propane tank. I have to have it secured if I take the trailer to work, which I do when work is closer to the campground than home is.

On the Skylark they have a locked storage area for the propane tanks which is nice.

What's a paddle lock? Is that something to secure your paddles to a canoe?

On the Skylark there is a locked door compartment for the 2 battery setup. It is the black door by the main door it slides out so you can get at the batteries.

Some old-timer (older than me) once told me there is reason that most LP tanks inside a compartment DO NOT have a lock on the compartment door. That is so that if you are away, or can't find your key in the case of a leaking tank, you or a neighbor can get inside in a hurry to shut off or remove the tank. Don't know if that is why my Designer has no lock on the door or not, but it sounds reasonable to me.
