They only had 1 left but I'm gonna hit up another local store and see if they will give me a price match cause online the price shows $599

Yep, that's what I saw. I'm thinking of 2 x Costco genny w/Yamaha engine, but for $450 I'd buy Ryobi without hesitation.

Too good to be true. I brought it home ran it and it started right up. Good so far. Connected it to bluetooth and it has 247 hrs of run time on it. It barely looked used and was in box . Gonna return it.

Looks like someone "rented" it for an extended period of time. Bad consumer.
Bad karma for them!

The manager at Home depot made things right. I took it back and they gave me a another boxed one that looked basically new but when I opened the box I made sure to open the gas tank this time and it smelled like gas. When I told them the first genset had 247 hrs on it they nearly freaked out. Apparently they know who could be doing it. So the manager actually thanked me and gave me an even bigger discount on the 2nd unit. $350! I took it home and it has 47hrs on it and just runs much better. They also ordered a few new ones and will put one aside for me and take $100 off that one also!

Yeah, I wonder what he'd take for one of the used ones?

The biggest problem with a 3k-3.5k generator is the weight. It would be a bear to get in and out of the truck. For me, it'd be impossible. I guess as long as you ran it while in the back of the pick up, it would be no problem. Draw back to that is if you wanted to go somewhere in the pickup but still need the AC running in the trailer.

That's why I got the two 2k twins. I can lift them out of the truck.

After a little research I think I am in the market for something in the 2000-3000 watt range. Honda and Yamaha seem to be the industry standard but are there any cheaper options that are comparable in performance? Also I have decided that I want an inverter generator as opposed to a conventional generator as I plan on using it with sensitive electronics and also want it to be as quiet as possible. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks folks!

I just bought the Predator 3500 yesterday after a widespread power failure at the park and surrounding area we are staying at. I looked at the Ryobi online first as I could have used my HomeDepot card but it didn't look like it had a 30 amp receptacle? Did I miss something?

Your right the Ryobi doesn't. But their parallel kit has one built in, or you can get an adaptor. Sorry to hear about power failures while your away.

It's all good - it was my excuse to convince the DW to buy the Genset I've wanted for a while. Power is back in the park already and coming back to the whole area today!

I bought 2 powerhouse 2k invertor generators from Northern tool last season when on sale for a total of $1,000 out the door. They come with the parallel connector so you get 4K watts when combined. They worked great and are very quiet.

We bought a Predator 3500 yesterday @ Harbor Freight. I declined the warranty and they were willing to knock it down to $75 or $100 (I forget), but I didn't get the offer to take $100 off, so we didn't get the warranty.

Put gas in it, filled it with oil and it started and ran fairly smoothly. Its decently quiet.
