replacing awning lights
Has anyone replaced the factory awning lights with multicolor LED lighting for a 2015 Jayco 28BHBE?

Welcome to the JOF.
No, I haven't replaced them. But the awning lights on our 2015 27RLS are too bright for most occasions. I'll probably add a dimmer for them at some point.

I agree, I usually don't use them, It is so bright I feel like we are in a supermarket. We are trying to replace them with a Multicolor/remote LED light, but the kits I have seen so far seem like they are for awnings that did not come with factory lighting.

I installed a piece from amazon that dims and has effects. Easy and worked great!

I assume it dims the lights Jayco installs. If that's right, it would be appreciated if you could provide more info on what piece you bought. And maybe how easy it was to install it. Thanks.

I purchased this little devil to control the awning light. Works very well and easy to install. I hooked it into the wiring after it comes out of the wall in the front awning arm. The remote can "see" it 12V RF Wireless Remote Switch Controller Dimmer FOR Mini LED Strip Light NEW EA | eBay.

Interesting, as our installed lights do not seem bright enough. I was thinking about replacing them for that reason.

I had to dim them as there are too bright they light up my whole camp site and the neighbors at times. Hard to enjoy the outdoors with that much light. But that part off LED for the price and easy to install, was worth it there are many threads on this part and this mod.

How and where did y'all install the controller? It looks pretty straight forward (black and red wire), but where did you put it for best results? Where are the wires on your trailer run? Just bought a new 29 bhds, but don't have it home yet to trace the wiring.

Here is a thread where I posted photos of mine and some others did as well. I found my wires behind a piece of trim in a upper cabinet right where they exited the camper to go to the power awning and the led light strip, that came factory installed. I put mine inline so the switch for the existing light stop still provides power but the little dimmer can do its job only when the switch is on. Best part I can actually turn off the awning light and leave just the amber step light, since on my camper they are wired together. I found the dimmer on Amazon or e-bay for a few dollars, just depends on how fast you want of need them. I read reviews that people had problems with them so I ordered two but the first one worked great and I am pleased with the results. It even remembers the last setting, so if I turn it off with the switch when I turn it back on it returns to the same dimming level as before. The remote is ok not a ton of range but does the job and gives you preset % or you can adjust up and down.

Hey guys, sorry I was away. That is the same one I used, paid a bit more for it but same one. I had to mount the dimmer out at the LED strip, but the remote works great.

Thanks, both! Back when the mod linked above was posted, DW and I were on the road... blinding ourselves and everyone near us with the awning lights.

There should be about 5 inches of exposed wire on the right end of the strip light that turns down and runs into the support for the awning. I installed mine there and wire tied it to the awning support.
Make sure you install the transmitter in the correct orientation. Also, you will need to seal the transmitter where the wires run under the heat shrink (you'll see what I mean when you receive the unit).
Very simple installation. I used crimp wire connectors and shrink wrap.
I mounted the remote just inside the door using a small piece of velcro tape (with all of the other controls/monitors).
