Return from last trip of the season to Verona, VA

Well, we have now returned from our last trip of the season to Shenandoah Valley CG near Verona, VA. They had a Halloween theme, complete with site decorating contest, individual costume contest, a pet costume contest, a pig roast, hay ride, lots of music, and of course trick or treating for the kids. We had a blast, and wished we could have stayed longer. But the one thing that really surprised us was that there were Jaycos EVERYWHERE. More Jaycos than I have ever seen in one place, including dealers. I counted 28 of them, and 8 were surrounding our site. There was even another 2004 Designer 5er two sites away. And to sweeten the deal, 7 out of the 8 were pulled by Ford trucks. The lone Chevy looked kind of lost, but he took his ribbing with style. Jayco models included flights, feathers, eagles, designers, starcrafts - just about all types were represented except pinnacles. Didn't get to chat with anywhere near all the Jaycos, but encouraged the ones I did talk with to join the JOF. One had seen the site several years ago, but never joined. Hopefully we will get some new members from these campers. It's really sad to end the season, but it was a great ending. Now for the winterizing . . . . .

Sounds like bunches of fun. We will be going to a Halloween themed weekend at a local CG soon.

The Rally was a big success, around 18 families came from all over Va. I got to know a great bunch of folks, good fellowship and lots of fun! Ended up staying another day with 3 other families. Weather was also perfect.

Glad to hear you had a good time, too. Do you have any idea when next year's fall rally will be held ? Is it always on a particular weekend in Oct, or does it vary ? We would like to attend it, as well as one of the Verona Halloween weekends, if possible. Also, how about the spring rally ? When will we know the dates and location ?

The location of the next rally is voted on at the current rally. IIRC after a rally is over a date is soon voted on for the next one on the forum. The current format has no set dates, it varies and seems flexible to accommodate the most members possible. They`re even discussing a Winter Rally! The Fall rally date will likely not be set until after a location is chosen, after the Spring rally. Since the Fall Rally date will likely be set in April or May you should have plenty of time to book a different weekend for the Halloween special.
