Roof Maintenance and AC capacitor add-on

... spent most of the afternoon up on that rubber roof. We got a warm (50’s) sunny day in Cincinnati, so it was a good day to be outside. It was my first time on the roof of a TT. Both me and the roof did not sustain any damage. (Although I might be sore tomorrow.)

I went up there to add a hard start capacitor to the air compressor.

That job went well so I decided to clean under the refrigerator vent.

... and then ended up scrubbing the entire roof and inspecting all the seals.

It feels good to get that stuff done, and answered all the questions in my mind about being on the roof. I told a service rep at a local dealer I was planning to go on the roof and I knew I shouldn’t wear spiked shoes, and asked what else I needed to know. He said just be careful getting on and off.

Looks good! I was a little freaked out at first walking on mine but to be honest, it felt more solid than a lot of house roofs I've walked on.

Short version: A capacitor stores electrical energy. A hard start capacitor supplies its stored energy to the air conditioner when the compressor is started. Because some stored energy is already available, it requires less form the source. That's more of a factor when using a portable generator.
