RV Antifreeze Not Selling

I just got home from Home Depot. I bet they are wondering why no one is purchasing rv antifreeze this year.

I mean, who wouldn't go down the air filter/ thermostat aisle for antifreeze?

That`s one of the problems with those huge stores, I have difficulty finding things. And the prices are in some cases higher then my local hardware store.

Yep,
I had trouble finding it at HD too. Was next to sump pumps.
When I seen $3.99/gal I went to Wally Mart. $3.99/gal there too.
I thought I had bought it last year for $2.99

I've never seen it stocked at an "Agent Orange" store in Florida. The Wally World next door to HD does sell it in Automotive near the windshield washer "juice"........... Think I paid $2.79 last winter for the one time I needed some to pour down the "P" traps. I blow the water lines with compressed air.

Since it's next to the furnace filters, maybe they thought it was something you put in the furnace?

While I have not bought it there ever and it's usually the local HW store. That antifreeze is commonly used in solar and home closed water heating systems which gives the homeowner the luxury of only needing to winterize the potable water systems which may be why you saw it in that isle.

I find that they cross merchandise items in many isles and you may find the same item 3x over in your travels based on how many different applications it has.

The Home Depot close to me had a pallet of the antifreeze close to the front door in plain sight but by the time they set it out, I think most people in the area had already winterized.

Funny, like others said cross marketing. I think I picked up 4 or 5 gallons (enough to our camper and mom's and all of the misc pumps around the house)of Prestone RV antifreeze at Menards in August for something like 99 cents a gallon after rebate. Since we were sending other rebates in, it was worth the cost of the stamp.

I used sprayer antifreeze this year. Up in the frozen north, we have that option.

Funny how many comments about price, HD' 4.36 vs 2.99/2.79/3.39 etc. For something the average RV'er may buy 2-3 gal a year, do you all really take the time to leave one store, drive to another in an attempt to save $3-$4 a year? I certainly wouldn't.

And further more even if I had to spend $10/gal to avoid going walmart I would. Our Walmart seems to have intentionally hired the slowest and most easily confused cashiers possible -- granted Minimum wage only buys you so much.

There is self checkout you know.

That's what we use unless we got a shopping cart full.

With that we use Walmart on the road for what they offer...everything we need.

Picked up a few gallons last year from Lowes. Had a hard time finding them but eventually did......on a pallet in their outside garden section

Maybe they do this so by the time you do find it you also found something else you didnt go in there for but decided you must have it. On a side note, any ill effects or degrading of antifreeze if your able to recover most of what you used and use again next season? We just get a few nights at or just below freezing here.
