RV parks in/near Las Vegas

We hope to make a trip this Spring to Las Vegas to visit our grand daughter and her husband. They are both serving in the US Air Force and are stationed at Nellis AFB in North Las Vegas. Does anyone have any recommendations for places to stay? I know there is an RV park on base, but it is restricted to active and retired military. Thanks in advance.

Jim

Ive checked into this in the past (several years ago). Seems like there weren't many. I just looked and Circus Circus still has one. Google might be a good place to check. Im sure others here will also chime in. Have fun!

RV park

All the amenities you need PLUS a casino and decent buffet. This is our stop-off when heading to points north.

At Sams Town they have a campground which is now operated by KOA. KOA moved from Circus Circus to Sam's Town. I stayed at the old one and it was a dump. Have stayed at Sam's town but in the hotel. The park looked good but, like most places in Vegas it's going to be busy late. It is a ways away from Nellis.
There is a campground called Hitching Post RV park near Nellis. can't tell you anything about it, did get 4 stars on RV Parky. That is only 2 miles from Nellis, Perhaps your granddaughter can check it out for you. Remember your probably only going to be sleeping there so, most anyplace would suffice. Good luck and enjoy your trip.

Does your granddaughter live right on base? Where she lives (and what else you plan to do while here) would affect where you park more then anything. Nellis AFB is 10 miles from Sam's Town (I'm parked about 2 miles north of Sam's Town right off Nellis Blvd so very familiar). I don't know anything about the Hitching Post RV park but if your granddaughter can't get to it let me know and I'll check it out for you. I have some friends who stay at Sam's Town RV every winter and it's ok - seems to be a lot of empty spaces - don't imagine it would be worse in the spring.

We stayed at Oasis RV park a few years ago. Was pretty nice. (A definite upgrade from the Circus Circus). Well organized and clean. Seems like I remember them saying they visually "inspect" any RV over ten years old before allowing them to rent a spot. I suppose this is to keep a "clean" appearance for the campground. We stayed there a week and would go again.

We stayed at Sam's Town KOA in June for a couple of days and it was outstanding. Sam's Town casino is next door and they have a free trolley service to Main St and the Strip. I highly recommend this KOA.

LONG time ago we stayed at Circus Circus. It was a parking lot with electric hookups, no frills at all. We were there to see the Strip, not to hang out at the campground. In a couple years I hope to go back with my family and enjoy Vegas with them. Fun little city, even for someone like me that doesn't drink much, doesn't gamble or go to strip joints. Still an amazing city!

We stay at Oasis RV Park every year. Circus Circus is a parking lot and the hookups are weird. Oasis has a nice pool and very clean. Not too long a drive to the strip.

We stayed at Oasis during the rodeo. A really nice place. I would give it a 5 star. I understand they give military discounts.

I think the Oasis is about 20 miles from Nellis AFB. Driving 20 miles across Vegas is not my idea of fun (but I am getting old and cranky )

Here's another vote for Oasis RV Park. Beautiful facility but they have lots of rules.

Could you get in the military cg with their ID? It may be worth the try.

Good idea - last year I camped at Lake O'Neill on Pendleton (son is a retired marine.)

When we stayed at the Oasis during the rodeo, the town was packed with people. We had no trouble getting around town. We jumped on the freeway, and went wherever we wanted. As for the rules at the Oasis, I didn't think they were too strict. I liked the security that was provided at the entrance of the park.
