RV tips

So as a person that had a pop up for 11 years and is new to 5th wheels there has been some things that are different to say the least. I have needed to learn a few new tricks and discover new gadgets to make life easier on for the set up and tear down. So I did a quick search and did not come up with a "Tip" thread so I figured I would start one to see what kinds of things everyone out there has discovered/learned to make their RV life easier.

One of the things I quickly discovered was holding the extend retract switch on the landing gear was mundane and needed to be "automated" some how. So I went to my bag if tricks and found an old rubber tile wedge that I use to use to level toilets when I was plumbing back in the day. I cut it in half and now push the switch slide the wedge under the switch to hold it for me.

The next thing I discovered was the Anderson RV leveler. I'm not sure how long these things have been around, but wow are they great! I wish I could have bought a set 11 years ago when I bought my pop up. I had always used the Lynx leveling blocks which are ok but they are never as precise and not as fast to set up as the Andersons. In my opinion it is the only way to go. I think the only draw back to them is the length of 15". For some people with tandem axels they may need to trim them to get them to work properly.

Here is a link to a video on how to use them.

I know all of you have some kind of time saving trick or gadget so please share it.

Below are photos of the rubber tile wedge and how I employ it.

Ever have a problem with the motor burning out when extending or retracting or do you stand there and watch until the deed is done and then take the wedge out?

+1 If I used that, my motor would go until something broke; either the jack, the motor, the fuse, something. I'd rather stand there and hold the switch. Yeah, it's boring, and hot especially if I'm not in the shade...
