Satellite Radio - Why Not An Option

Does anyone know why Jayco (unless we're missing something) doesn't offer Satellite Radio (i.e. Serius/XM). We love it in our cars and would love to have it in our 308RETS. Since this camper is on a Seasonal Site, we'd love to have this feature. Yes, we understand that there are aftermarker devices that will sink wireless to a preset station, but nothing works better than an Audio System that is Satellite Ready..

Have you thought about simply swapping out the TT radio for a satellite capable one?

I agree that it would be a great factory option. Maybe some of us should send the suggestion to Jayco's R&D section.

We have a. Portable unit with a home dock in our trailer that we just pop the unit on the dock and use auxiliary jack. That is a great idea though.

We take our portable unit and out Dish Network plays Sirius inside. It would be a nice factory option, though.

cm11599ps.. We entertained that idea, however the factory audio unit has the built in DVD/Surround Sound/A&B Speakers already wired which we like these features. Not sure if I want to change that our since it's already set up.

We most likely will look at a portable unit for our 308RETS.

We do this as well. I use the portable unit in the truck on the way to the campground, then I hook it up to the AUX port on the camper stereo when we setup camp. Right now I just run a home antennae with a long cord out the dinette window and set it on top of my top awning bar, but I think I'm going to mount it to the TV antennae and use a combiner/splitter to run it on the existing TV coax this spring.

You can get a "boom box" sat receiver... they work great inside or outside the RV... I have one..

We use a portable XM radio in our trailer; it plugs into it's dock. The dock is connected to DC power from the trailer and to an exterior XM antenna. We can play the XM radio through earphones, or through the trailer's FM radio by using an FM transmitter, which plugs into the radio and then transmits the audio on an FM frequency that the trailer's radio can receive. The FM transmitter I use is this one:

Do you happen to have an iphone or ipod? If so, XM sells a device that plugs into the 12V socket. You then plug your iphone or ipod into this device and then use the XM app to listen to your stuff. You do NOT need WIFI or a cell signal for this. You simply plug a basic XM antennae into the device and you'll be listening in no time. This device can broadcast a radio signal or you can connect it with a wire to the AUX input of your TT radio. I use it in my car and it works great.

We've actually kicked that idea around. My wife and I both have iPhones and iPads. I also have a Bose Soundlink Speaker that I can sink my phone to. But everything that we've read up to this point is that it will go against our Data Plan! Streaming Music sucks the data up pretty quick.

We need to contact our phone carrier as well as XM to confirm one way or the other. If it doesn't go against our Data Plan then this is without a doubt the way to go. We can even use the AUX jax in the existing TT Radio so it pipes through the inside and outside speakers if so desired.
