Schwintek going bye bye with JAYCO

Heard today that JAYCO is doing away with Schwintek slides due to too many problems. Also heard that on a Winnie with a full wall slide the vertical shaft actually twisted on one of the Schwinteks.

That is real freaking nice. My Pinnacle has a ship date of Oct 14. I am sure it is not in production yet. I have e mailed to see if the one slide with tv refer and stove can be upgraded to 500 to 1 with steel shaft. Waiting to hear back. The curb slide is the bottom driven with electric motor and shaft tube. Like all have said the light bedroom slide is not been a problem. I can see where if not level u can jam a slide. My 30 ft TT when not level doors will bind from frame flex. My TT is alum siding which I really like. Why do they not do the same on large FW's

I just called Jayco and there tech service dept has not heard that yet. Am waiting for the sales dept to call me about the upgrade to 500to 1 motor with steel shaft. I was told that a ship date means my unit is being built but how far along only sales dept can tell me

This will be good news for any upcoming NEW owners. I just paid $200 for a replacement Schwintek motor on my Pinnacle's entertainment slide. (Some day when I want to rant I'll let you know why I think my Pinnacle is a POS.)

It will probably take awhile for the changes to occur. We where discussing the new DESIGNER and I said it looked good, but I hoped that they weren't using the Schwintek slides. That is when he said that he heard that they were going to quit using them because of the problems.

The Schwintec system really looks like a good system. Use stainless rails a good motor and shaft and it will do as required. Use a junk motor and u get problems. Weight is a big factor and Hyd is good but heavy. U cannot tell me that if u used a well made Schwintec system and a well built slide with composite floor and big heavy duty rollers and a double channeled seal that u would not have buyers lining up. And it would only cost 100 more per slide

True, but that problem is on Lippert's end not JAYCO's, as I said the service tech said the shaft on a Winnie full wall slide actually twisted.

The shaft is also aluminum. Stainless side rails good motor and stainless or steel shafts and that would not happen. Steel will rust big time and stainless is more than aluminum. That is why the slide shaft twisted on the Winee it is aluminum. There is a lot of weight to a slide and off level rv frame will twist and cause a bind. It is a catch 22. Either use stainless or junk aluminum. I could see steel tracks with every RV having rust stains down the sides . What sucks is money is bottom line. I would gladly pay more for a good slide and the RV companies would save money in warranty work but that is why most give One year. Bottom line profit

I do know that but other RV web site have polled on slide failures and it is not real good. Make it better it is a real good system but designed for low cost and that does not work

Heck, even mobile suites went to the cable drive. Dealer we've dealt with several times said they'd rather work on the cable drive any day over a schwintek. I never liked schwintek. Be interesting to see what they come up with. I can't wait to see the new designer, and hope it's a recreation of the old travel supreme fifth wheel.

I guess I'm on the losing end too. Mine is at the dealer right now getting the Schwintek replaced on the kitchen slide. Also looks like this will put an end to my camping season. The dealer informed me there is a long lead time on the parts needed from Lippert and probably won't get the parts till November. So much for my week I had planned in mid October. I'm more afraid I'm now going to be stuck with this problem as long as I have the trailer.

Call Jayco for assistance instead of going thru dealer...they will help expedite...they did for me a few years ago.

Did you see my other post? A pic and the specs are on JAYCO's web site and it sure looks like a modified TS, just like they did with the ENTEGRA. 12' frame, 3" walls and totally enclosed slide mech. Waiting for the interior pics to get posted.
