Sedona - The Promise Land

We'll,
We arrived to our Sedona Destination today.
The CG is only 1/4 mile outside of town and is very nice.
If you walk 50 feet out the back of our site, you walk into Canyon Creek.

One of the forum members from Flagstaff is stopping by today. He has the same 165 Sport unit and is planning a stay in this area soon.

I highly recommend this CG

How did you all go down to Sedona. Oak Creek Canyon Scenic Drive on 89A or go down I17 and come up from the south.

About half way down Oak Creek canyon is some pretty winding roads haha... At the the top of the canyon road is a great swap meet pull out with all kinds of Indian things including Hopi Kachina Dolls.

Got some good photo places for the winding road you just got off of as well.

Pictures brings back memories haha... Want to see some red rock pictures before you all leave the area.

Don't forget now I want to see a photo of your van and trailer with a ROUTE 66 road sign in the back ground. There is a perfect stretch of the famous ROUTE 66 just outside of Flag off of I40.

You guys are also just a good stone throw away from another famous landmark town called PRESCOTT. This was the territorial Capital of AZ back in the real west days (1860s).. The OLD TOWN is a must see place haha... You can drink or dine in a real western bar with the brothel up the stairs and see bullet holes in the walls from actual gun fights haha...

Go up to the airport for the beautiful 360 degree views, its on a plateau. It is affectionately named the SS Sedona since it is like landing on an Aircraft Carrier.

Yep,
Finally got out of the big winds.
Roy, I wimped out and came 17South and then back up.
I'll drive 189A with the 4Runner.

jdavis92 from the forum here just stopped by.
Really nice guy from Flagstaff. His unit has been modified by PO so he wanted to see a stock unit.
Very nice visit and fun to be able to put a name with a face.

Plenty of pictures to be had here. Hopefully we'll get to all the places recommended.

I have the battery for my good camera all charged and ready to start shooting.

Off to see a little bit of Sedona maybe a bite to eat for dinner and then scenic adventure tomorrow.

Best regards,
Doug

Love that area. Make sure you hit Slide Rock Park. The Pink Jeep Tours are pretty cool as well.

Sedona is on our list to visit. It is just a little too far for us right now within our vacation time. From NJ, we made it as far out as Durango, Colorado & Moab, Utah last year. We definitely want to hit Sedona someday, though, especially for the mountain biking there.

Enjoy your stay. The site looks gorgeous!

So jealous, Doug!! Sedona is on my short list (hopefully!!). I actually have a cousin that recently moved close by and he regularly hikes there. I look forward to more pics of your "out west" vacation.

We were at one spot that had a mystical vortex.
I didn't feel anything, but the dog suddenly had to poop :-)

Best regards,
Doug

The drive North toward Flagstaff is beautiful. Taking pictures is difficult because there are virtually no places to pull off the hiway.

Doug - We was up there on one trip and whole bunch of police cars went around us in the early evening as we was driving out toward the BELL ROCK. Turns out a bunch of the local ladies had got naked up on the rocks and was having a big party haha... All the red/blue lights made me miss the show haha...

Doug,
We stayed at the same CG last fall...great spot! Looks like you're having fun. We're in Grand Canyon right now and it's a bit chilly here at night

Hey Troutslayer,
This is a great place.
I am glad you guys are having a good time in the Canyon. It can get a little cool there as the sun goes down.
Even here, I put on a hoodie after sunset.

Roy,
Now I am going to be driving up to Bell Rock every evening lol

We're here until Saturday and then making our way to Flying Flags Resort in Buellton, CA.
I am going to break the trip up a little stopping in Kingman, AZ then Barstow, CA.

Safe travels all,

Best regards,
Doug

Don't forget ROUTE 66 now... This famous road may not be around too much longer...

Do take the pink jeep tours....worth it. Be sure to venture to Jerome. Cool place to eat in downtown Sedona that serves rattle snack and many other unusual desert qusine goodies.
