Seneca 37RB Engine Whine

Just picked up a new 2014 37RB from dealer today, never titled before, about 1000 miles on the chasis. Driving the 150 miles home noticed loud whine from the Cummins engine between 1600 and 1800 rpm. Am assuming its turbo noise, it goes away when the engine load reduces when going down a hill. The whine doesn't occur at low engine speed either. The noise is fairly loud and high pitched and really annoying. A long day of listening to this is a head ache for sure. Not sure a commercial truck driver could live with this all the time either.

This normal? Any ideas or just take it to Freighliner?

Congratulations and welcome to the forum

Sorry, but I'm not familiar with those diesels, but the description does sound like it could be from the turbo.

Just for clarity, the whine is there all the time at highway speeds on both level road and up grades? It only goes away when going down hill?

There is a TECH BULLETIN that was issued for a whine caused by the trans shift cable, that may or may not be the problem.
